Chapter 111: The Embarrassment of Ni Feihong
When they sat down for dinner, there were few dishes, but they were delicious.
Han Siyi looked around and asked curiously, "Why isn't Feng Chenchen home for dinner?"
Xiao Ma said, "She's a big shot now, busy with her career. She’s become a so-called 'great director' and is currently busy setting up her production crew."
Han Siyi said with a mix of sarcasm and skepticism, "The threshold for making films is so low these days; you can even churn out a web movie for a few tens of thousands. Does everyone call themselves a 'great director' now?"
Xiao Ma replied, "Damn, I had the same thought at first. But she really isn't kidding. I heard that Theron has joined her project and Mike Travis is backing her. Before they’ve even officially started filming, she’s already purchased seven Land Rovers for the crew. She’s really acting like a big-time director."
"Ah!"
Han Siyi was shocked. If that were the case, she really was a big deal—it was staggering, a sudden rise to the top. The more she thought about it, the more envious, jealous, and resentful she felt. She tried again, "Did she rise to the top like this because of you?"
Xiao Ma said, "It’s not that exaggerated, but close enough. I personally gave pointers on the script. After Mike Travis read it, he thought it had incredible potential and solid bones, so everything that followed became much easier. It’s almost as if her influence and box office returns in North America are already locked in."
Han Siyi felt that was too outrageous, which led to... her lecherous thoughts and attraction toward Xiao Ma growing boundlessly.
But alas, there was a pair of undercover agents watching nearby.
Han Siyi, being clever, felt that in their current state, the best move would be to stretch out her beautiful foot under the table to touch him. Unfortunately, she was currently semi-disabled, and any movement of her injured foot caused sharp pain.
And so, even this most basic tactical maneuver could not be implemented.
However, Han Siyi was looking forward to it. Based on the lecherous behavior this guy had just shown, he was clearly a restless soul, and things were going to get lively in this "Tower of Demon Suppression" from here on out.
Han Siyi ate very little. She stood up, looking the part, and said, "I'm full. I need to get to work."
Xiao Ma decisively put down his bowl and chopsticks and stood up. "I’ll help you over. You shouldn't be moving your foot around."
Han Siyi was once again flattered; she really liked him at this moment.
"Oh, that’s so embarrassing. It’s too much trouble for you." Han Siyi wasn't just being polite; she meant it.
"It’s fine. I’ll just carry you over. That’s what a man should do." Xiao Ma walked over to pick her up.
Hearing this, Han Siyi was ecstatic and waited in a very cooperative posture.
Xiao Ma tried to scoop her up by the waist and legs, but after a moment, he realized he couldn't lift her. His face flushed slightly, and he thought that perhaps he really did need to start training with Zheng Qing.
"Let me."
The cook, a woman with a thick neck and a sturdy build, walked over and decisively carried Han Siyi away.
"..."
This left both Xiao Ma and Han Siyi feeling cold and hollow inside.
With undercover agents watching and the "Demoness" Han injured, there was nothing to do after dinner. So, Xiao Ma went out for a walk to keep in shape.
The air and environment in this district were superb. As he walked, he reached the main road.
A moment later, he heard the roar of a powerful sports car engine. Looking back, he saw a Lamborghini.
"?" Ni Feihong, who was driving, slowed down and lowered the window, looking at him in astonishment. "Xiao Ma, what are you doing here?"
"I live here," Xiao Ma said with a strange expression.
"What exactly are you doing here?" Ni Feihong pulled the car over. "There isn't a house here worth less than a hundred million. You live here? What on earth are you up to, acting so reckless all day? You snuck onto the *Poseidon* back then, and I heard there was some trouble on that ship. Now you’re wandering around here, and I even heard there was a kidnapping case involving a girl in this area?"
Xiao Ma retorted, feeling slighted, "You don't think I had anything to do with that kidnapping, do you?"
Ni Feihong sighed, deflated. "I’m not suspecting that. I’m just afraid that with your trouble-making personality, you’re going to get yourself killed one day."
"Are you worried about me?" Xiao Ma said with a grin.
Ni Feihong looked left and right, then tossed her head. "Get in. You can’t park on this curve."
Xiao Ma had nothing better to do, so he got in.
She began to drive.
A short while later, she stopped in front of a villa gate not far away. She turned to look at Xiao Ma. "You’re really not going to tell me what you’re doing here, are you?"
Xiao Ma became neurotic again. "I wanted to ask you the same thing."
Ni Feihong had no choice but to point at the villa in front of them. "My new boyfriend is here. He invited me for dinner tonight. What’s wrong with that?"
Envy, jealousy, and resentment!
Dark lines vaguely appeared on Xiao Ma's face.
Ni Feihong sensed his mood, which made her feel a bit awkward.
She held it in for a moment but couldn't help herself. She finally said, "I know you’re concerned about me, and even though this has nothing to do with you, I still want to say thanks. Don’t think I’m so stupid or easy to take advantage of. It’s just a matter of manners. He invited me to dinner, I accepted, so I came. I originally wanted to go to a restaurant, but I’m not used to restaurant food, so we decided on this place. Do you have any more questions?"
Xiao Ma remained neurotic. "If he has ill intentions, send me a code and I’ll come save you."
Ni Feihong nearly face-planted against the steering wheel. "Given your history of neuroses, I believe you would actually do that, but you’re overthinking it. It shouldn't be that serious."
"It will be. No one who lives here is a good person," Xiao Ma continued spouting nonsense.
Ni Feihong really didn't know what else to say to him. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Are you starting to act superior again? Don't you feel awkward interfering in my affairs like this?"
Feeling a great deal of resentment from both his body and his spirit, Xiao Ma didn't want to stay any longer. He got out of the car, closed the door, and walked away without saying a word.
Ni Feihong felt even more awkward. After a moment of hesitation, she leaned out of the window. "Xiao Ma, you can't call a cab here. Do you want me to drive you down to where you can get one?"
"No thanks, I won't disturb your dinner," Xiao Ma said without looking back.
This made Ni Feihong feel a bit uneasy, but she figured he was a grown man and wouldn't get lost, and being late for dinner would be impolite. In the end, she let it go.
At a window on the third floor of the villa, a man in his thirties, wearing an exquisite, tailored suit and sporting a small mustache, was observing the situation in Ni Feihong's car with binoculars. He saw that Xiao Ma was strikingly handsome, and his interaction with Ni Feihong seemed strange, culminating in the handsome man seemingly leaving in a huff.
The man frowned with a dark look on his face.
However, when Ni Feihong looked up through the glass, the man quickly lowered the binoculars and gestured at her from the window with a smile.
After the gate opened, Ni Feihong drove in.
The mustached man came down to greet her, looking suave and sophisticated.
Before going inside, Ni Feihong asked, confused, "Were you observing us just now?"
The middle-aged man thought quickly and nodded calmly. "Yes, I hope that wasn't an offense. By the way, who was that?"
His admission made Ni Feihong feel much better. "A colleague from the company. We just happened to run into each other, so I let him hop in for a quick chat."
The mustached man smiled gracefully. "Does he live around here too?"
Ni Feihong shook her head. "I don't think so. I don't even know what he was doing here."
The mustached man added, "In that case, Feihong, it was a bit rude of you. You should have driven him back or invited him in for dinner."
"There was no need for that." Despite saying so, Ni Feihong was even more pleased, finding him to be a man of class.
"How about I call a car to take him? He shouldn't have gone far," the man suggested.
Ni Feihong shook her head. "Really, there's no need. He's a grown man. Maybe he just wanted to walk around and breathe some fresh air?"
"That's true. Well, let's go inside. Actually, you arrived early; dinner at my place isn't ready yet."
Ni Feihong laughed. "I suspect you're just saying that to save face for me. I'm seven minutes late, and you call that early?"
