Chapter 100: Bracelet
Song Qingyou stood at the top of the stairs. Her position was two or three steps above Fu Wenzhou's, just enough to let her see the man's eyes.
Fu Wenzhou's eye sockets were not deep, his eyelids thin, the outer corners of his eyes faintly lifted; his lashes were thick, like the flickering moonlight reflected on an endless sea. One glance was enough to drag a person into a dark whirlpool.
Song Qingyou lowered her eyes to the lunch box in his hands. Something in her gaze shifted, and warmth rose in her chest.
After a moment, she said slowly, "Don't disturb other people's sleep in the middle of the night anymore."
Fu Wenzhou said carelessly, "Mm. You didn't eat dinner tonight. Are you hungry?"
Song Qingyou had slept until now and was indeed a little hungry. She stepped down one stair and reached for his palm. "If you go anywhere in the future, you have to let me know first."
Fu Wenzhou's brows and eyes were full of a roguish charm. He lifted his gaze. "Youyou, do you remember what you said before?"
Song Qingyou turned back to look at him, baffled.
Last time? What had she said last time?
Fu Wenzhou said, "You said we should give each other enough space."
Song Qingyou: "...Did I?"
"Yes." Fu Wenzhou nodded with absolute certainty. "That's exactly what you said."
Song Qingyou choked on her words. After a moment, she said, "I'll report to you as well."
At last, Fu Wenzhou was satisfied. He took a wristband from his chest.
Song Qingyou looked down at it. "What's this?"
Fu Wenzhou said, "It monitors heart rate."
Seeing how naturally he slipped the wristband onto her wrist, Song Qingyou somehow felt it wasn't that simple. "Anything else? What else does it do?"
By the time she asked, Fu Wenzhou had already set the fingerprint lock.
"It can also locate you."
Song Qingyou's brows drew together. She immediately reached out to remove it.
Fu Wenzhou raised one brow lightly and covered the back of her fair hand with his palm. "No one but me can unlock it."
With that, he put an arm around Song Qingyou's waist and led her to the dining table. "Eat first. It won't taste good if it gets cold."
Song Qingyou lowered her eyes and glanced at the little device on her wrist, but said nothing.
The chef of the Xu family truly did make excellent Cantonese dishes, and Song Qingyou rarely ate more than usual.
After she finished, Fu Wenzhou took the initiative to kiss her lips, intimate and coaxing.
His fingers rubbed the prayer beads on her wrist, and with his face buried in the hollow of her neck, he was clingy to the point of exasperation. "I want you to always be within my sight, but I know that's impossible. With this wristband, every step you take, every move you make, the red dot on my phone will move with you. Seeing it makes me feel at ease."
Song Qingyou reached out and poked his cheek. "Mm."
The next day, when Song Chang opened the car door for Song Qingyou and saw the wristband suddenly on her wrist, he couldn't help asking, "Miss, when did you start liking these high-tech things?"
Song Qingyou got into the car, her voice flat. "Fu Wenzhou bought it."
Song Chang had seen this thing before. The CEO of Qingning had once asked him to buy one for his daughter; it was said to monitor heart rate and track location, with remarkable precision.
He glanced at his young lady again through the rearview mirror, a little worried that she might not know about the tracking function. Had Fu Wenzhou tricked her?
The more Song Chang thought about it, the more uneasy he felt. After hesitating for a long time, he finally asked tentatively, "Miss, do you know what functions this wristband has?"
Song Qingyou turned a page of the document, her eyelids never lifting. "Mm."
Song Chang: "Are you sure?"
Song Qingyou raised her eyes. "Heart rate monitoring and tracking. What's the matter?"
Song Chang was shocked. Wasn't his young lady the one who hated being controlled by others the most? Why was she wearing this wristband?
He swallowed, and suddenly remembered that Young Master Fu had also sent people to follow her before, yet the young lady had not seemed to say anything about it.
Song Chang felt something was off, though he couldn't quite say what.
As he was thinking, a huge figure suddenly surged into view. His pupils contracted, and he slammed on the brakes.
With a loud bang.
