Bai Li stood at the doorway. He was a soldier, hardened by military training, yet the man before him radiated an even more formidable presence. Even with a gap between them, the oppressive atmosphere was palpable.

Bai Li disliked this sensation, his brows knitting slightly. “I’m here for Song Qingyou.”

Fu Wenzhou’s voice was deep and cold, his eyes narrowing at the corners. “Didn’t I tell you she’s moved? Are your ears or your brain not working?”

Bai Li’s frown deepened, his tone devoid of warmth. “We met yesterday. She said she hasn’t moved.”

Upon hearing “it’s your Brother Li,” Song Qingyou had already slipped on her shoes and risen, stepping to Fu Wenzhou’s side and pulling him away. “Brother Li, what brings you here?”

Bai Li cast a cold glance at Fu Wenzhou, his gaze softening as it moved past him to Song Qingyou. “A friend gave me a lot of winter dates. You love them, don’t you? I brought you two boxes.”

Song Qingyou finally noticed the boxes behind him. “Thank you, Brother Li…”

Fu Wenzhou sneered, cutting their conversation short, his gaze icy. “She only eats winter dates from Linhai, freshly picked. Yours have been refrigerated—poor texture, not sweet, just upset her stomach. Bai Li, maybe do your homework before gifting someone.”

Bai Li paused, lips pressed together, looking to Song Qingyou with apologetic eyes. “I didn’t know they’d upset your stomach. I’ll take them back.”

Song Qingyou felt a bit awkward. She really could only eat fresh ones.

But it was a kind gesture, after all.

“Don’t listen to him. I’m not that delicate,” Song Qingyou coughed lightly. “It’s cold out. Come inside.”

Bai Li’s palm tightened. “I have to see my father soon. I won’t come in. I’ll take the dates back.”

He picked up the boxes, speaking in a low voice. “Next time, I’ll bring you Linhai dates.”

Without waiting for Song Qingyou to reply, he turned and left.

Song Qingyou blinked in surprise, then glanced back. “Fu Wenzhou, did someone shoot you today?”

She was genuinely curious.

Fu Wenzhou was like a wolf pup hiding its fangs, eyes narrowed as he stared at her, a smile that never reached his eyes. “Linhai dates were only good before last month. Even next time, he won’t find any for you.”

Song Qingyou slowly raised her gaze, suddenly asking, “Where were you last night?”

Fu Wenzhou’s eyes darkened, Adam’s apple bobbing as he turned and walked inside. “At home.”

“At home?” Song Qingyou’s eyelids lifted slightly. “Then how did you know his name was Bai Li?”

Her voice was calm, her tone peaceful. “You were following me.”

Fu Wenzhou’s steps halted, his side profile sharp, a hint of heaviness between his brows. After turning, the wolf pup became obedient again. “Sister, I just wanted to pick you up.”

Song Qingyou gave him a light glance. “I went with Song Chang. What were you picking me up for? Fu Wenzhou, could your excuses be any worse?”

Fu Wenzhou’s brows lowered, a storm of emotion raging in his eyes, though he seemed to be suppressing it. The veins on his hand stood out slightly.

After a moment, he laughed mockingly. “Is it because I treated Bai Li poorly that you’re questioning me?”

Song Qingyou frowned. What nonsense was this? Why did it always circle back to Bai Li?

Her expression cooled. “Fu Wenzhou, can you stop fixating on others? I’m asking why you followed me, not about Bai Li.”

“You didn’t get home until eleven last night.” His voice was low, almost dripping with grievance. “I was waiting for you. If I didn’t find you, do I not even have the right to look for my wife?”

She was taken aback by his “I was waiting for you,” not realizing he’d called her his wife.

She pressed her lips together and gently explained, “Dinner took until after nine, then with traffic, arriving at eleven is normal.”

Fu Wenzhou’s gaze was dark as ink. “Don’t call him ‘Brother’ anymore.”

It took Song Qingyou a couple of seconds to realize who he meant, amusement flickering in her eyes. “Fu Wenzhou, I’ve called him Brother Li since childhood—it’s just a name. Are you jealous of even that?”

No wonder he insisted she call him “brother” last night—it was because of this…

Fu Wenzhou snorted coldly, forcing out each word through clenched teeth. “I! Will! Be! Jealous!”

Song Qingyou: “……”

She muttered quietly, “Childish.”

Fu Wenzhou immediately wrapped himself around her, lifting her up in a possessive embrace, his lips pressed against her collarbone at just the right height.

He bit her fair collarbone in a sort of punishment, his voice rough and low, thick with possessiveness. “Sister, no one loves you more than I do. So you can only choose me.”

Song Qingyou pinched his earlobe with her fingertips, suddenly speaking. “Fu Wenzhou, get an ear piercing.”

Fu Wenzhou caught her wrist and kissed it. “Alright.”

That night, Fu Wenzhou sat in a chair, Song Qingyou perched on his lap, holding a piercing gun to pierce his ear.

“Does it hurt?” Song Qingyou asked softly.

Fu Wenzhou chuckled, “It hurts—so, Qingyou, can you give me a kiss?”

He still had energy to tease her, so Song Qingyou knew it wasn’t painful. She set the piercing gun aside and took out a single earring from the drawer.

The earring was quite unique—a deep blue square-cut stone, sparkling under the light like the color of the deep sea.

Song Qingyou carefully put it on him. “It’s my mother’s keepsake. The only thing she ever gave me.”

Fu Wenzhou’s Adam’s apple moved, his voice hoarse. “What made you want to pierce my ear?”

Song Qingyou glanced at him. “Because your ears are pretty.”

She’d simply thought that the earring she’d treasured for over twenty years would look perfect on Fu Wenzhou.

And she’d been right.

Fu Wenzhou was already strikingly handsome, and the blue earring made his features even more captivating. Desire and wildness showed vividly in him.

Song Qingyou couldn’t help but trace his brows and eyes.

Fu Wenzhou laughed low, sensual and alluring. “Just because it looks good?”

Song Qingyou paused for a moment. “What else?”

Fu Wenzhou snorted, “Say something sweet and I’ll consider wearing it.”

Song Qingyou raised her brows, got off his lap, and put away the piercing gun. “If you don’t want to wear it, give it back.”

Fu Wenzhou’s face darkened. He wrapped his long arms around her waist and pulled her back onto his lap, his hand locking around the back of her neck, his voice pressed low. “You just love to bully me.”

Song Qingyou patted his cheek. “Don’t take it off, do you hear?”

Fu Wenzhou gazed at her, eyes deep.

“Say it.”

“I hear you.” Fu Wenzhou pressed his nose to her lips. “Sister, I’ll do anything for you—so can you stop calling Bai Li ‘Brother’?”

Song Qingyou was speechless, unsure how the conversation circled back to Bai Li yet again.

She sighed helplessly, “Why are you always at odds with him?”

Fu Wenzhou bit her lip, “I don’t like him.”

Song Qingyou: “……”

She neither agreed nor refused, her slender hands circling Fu Wenzhou’s neck in playful reproach. “Overbearing.”

Fu Wenzhou paid no mind, his fingertips lingering on her lips until they were red and swollen, only then leaning in to kiss her deeply.
