"Bang—"

The heavy gunshot from the AUG echoed across the wilderness.

This was the third shot. As the bullet tore through the air, Wu Hua activated the “Precision Calculation” skill. The information came back a second later: HP: 6800/6800!

Wu Hua felt cold sweat soaking his palm. The brief data said enough. Azure Starry Sky was definitely not a Chip Warrior, but a Gene Warrior. Her equipment’s defense was terrifyingly high, and her physical stats were equally monstrous. Though three shots had dealt 40 points of damage, her Strength Specialization restored her HP almost instantly.

If she were only level 30, her base HP would be at least 4500. Yet the displayed HP was 6800. Even if she were a level 35 master, it was clear she had Constitution Specialization.

The sensors began to alarm: The enemy was less than 250 meters away.

If Azure Starry Sky used a Charge skill, she’d be upon them in thirty seconds at most. Yet she continued to approach slowly. There was no doubt—since she’d come, she didn’t intend to let Wu Hua leave alive.

Yu Jialing clearly grasped the gravity of the situation. “Let’s go. Quickly.”

Wu Hua lay prone, unmoving, his eyes glued to the scope. “We can’t escape. Do you really think there’s any chance?”

Yu Jialing was stunned, then immediately understood. She removed the Type 95 from her shoulder.

She said nothing more, but Wu Hua felt a warmth rise within him. He knew this gesture meant Yu Jialing was choosing to live or die with him.

“At two hundred meters, we fire together. I refuse to believe she can withstand this barrage,” Wu Hua said coldly.

Yu Jialing lay beside him, the Type 95 propped in the grass, safety off.

“Bang, bang, bang—”

“Ch-ch-ch-ch—”

The AUG and Type 95 spat flames together, gunfire roaring across the hillside. The flickering tongues of flame illuminated their resolute expressions—fear was never a word in a gunman’s vocabulary.

Sparks danced densely across Azure Starry Sky’s armor. Anyone looking from afar, ignorant of the truth, might have thought someone was setting off firecrackers on the mountain road.

“-14, -13, -6—”

This time, Azure Starry Sky was forced to bend forward—not because of serious injury, but because the sheer firepower of both guns created an overwhelming force of resistance.

Not until Wu Hua and Yu Jialing began reloading did Azure Starry Sky slowly lift her head, a faint smile curving her lips. “Not bad at all.”

With that, she shot upward, a dazzling blur streaking along the mountain path.

Charging was a basic warrior skill, but Wu Hua had never seen anyone move so fast. In less than seven seconds, Azure Starry Sky was standing on a boulder, less than twenty meters from them.

Yu Jialing felt her breath nearly stop. She’d only just changed her magazine, and the enemy was already upon them. This woman’s Charge must have been mastered to S-rank, dashing at fifty meters per second; escaping was simply impossible.

Wu Hua stood up slowly, studying Azure Starry Sky closely.

She was not much different from other Gene Warriors. Though her face was covered by a metal mask, nothing could hide those eyes.

Wu Hua could tell she was an extraordinarily beautiful woman, her demeanor serene, her eyes languid and even tinged with melancholy. When she gazed at you, it was like staring into a pool of autumn water, brimming with gentle emotion—like the eyes of a docile Persian cat.

Had he not witnessed her earlier display of strength, he would never have believed this woman was so formidable.

“Your marksmanship is much better than Snow Night’s. No wonder she died by your hand,” Azure Starry Sky remarked, her gaze thoughtful on Wu Hua.

Those words alone earned Wu Hua’s respect; she was indeed a master among masters.

“Snow Dance Over the Mountains, step aside. There’s no need to throw away your level thirty experience for a man,” Azure Starry Sky suddenly said.

Yu Jialing was stunned.

Wu Hua’s expression darkened. How did Azure Starry Sky know Yu Jialing’s ID and level? How did she know they were together? He had a nagging suspicion that Night Rose had leaked their information.

“What is your relationship with Night Rose?” Wu Hua finally asked.

“I only ask, never answer. I only kill men, I don’t trouble women. I’ll say it only once,” Azure Starry Sky replied.

Wu Hua sneered, “You seem to hate men.”

Azure Starry Sky lifted her chin proudly. “Men are all the same. You of all people should know that.”

Wu Hua replied coolly, “Don’t assume everyone in the world is like you, just because you know what you are.”

Azure Starry Sky showed no anger. She calmly drew a blue energy sword from behind her. This sword was larger and longer than any ordinary energy blade, reminding Wu Hua of the final boss in the Ayat Underground City.

Azure Starry Sky raised the blade, her beautiful eyes carefully examining the edge as though she were admiring a masterpiece, a look of contentment in her gaze.

She appeared leisurely, but Wu Hua dared not lower his guard. Her attitude signaled she was about to strike.

Sure enough, moments later, Azure Starry Sky leapt from the boulder. In mid-air, blue light flashed as her sword tip came crashing down. Her attack was ruthless—Thunder Leap Strike.

“Sparks flew from the armor—those bullets weren’t Wu Hua’s, but Yu Jialing’s, who was the first to open fire.

With a thunderous boom, the ground was blasted open by a surge of energy, leaving a small crater. Azure Starry Sky’s sword tip dug into the earth, the blade bending under the impact. In the next instant, it snapped straight again with a resounding clang, and before she even landed, she used the recoil to rebound, spinning horizontally in mid-air. The technique behind this Thunder Leap Strike was eerily unpredictable.

Yu Jialing kept firing, but her opponent’s equipment was too formidable. Thirty bullets didn’t even deal a hundred points of damage.

With a crisp crack, Azure Starry Sky’s boot landed squarely on Yu Jialing’s chest.

Yu Jialing was sent flying over ten meters, her head slamming hard against a rock. Above her head, a damage value of “-233” appeared.

The impact left Yu Jialing dazed, unable to catch her breath. She lay motionless on the ground, apparently unconscious, her gun falling beside her.

Wu Hua saw the force behind that kick—if it had been a sword instead, Yu Jialing would have been gravely wounded.

Dropping to one knee, Wu Hua fired the AUG in a wild burst, but the massive gap in equipment couldn’t be bridged by marksmanship alone. Azure Starry Sky skimmed over the ground, her long sword sweeping up a wave of white energy, reminiscent of the Milky Way at night. Sensing danger, Wu Hua guessed this was her own unique skill and rolled aside just in time.

Azure Starry Sky pressed her palm to the ground, flipped lithely through the air, then twisted sharply and launched another mid-air assault. Wu Hua’s close-combat techniques were still lacking; this time, he couldn’t dodge. Azure Starry Sky’s blade slashed his left flank, tearing open his T58 combat suit and spraying blood.

A red damage value floated above Wu Hua’s head: “-856!”

Azure Starry Sky followed the sword strike with a kick, sending Wu Hua spinning through the air in a parabola. Even as he landed, he managed to fire off a burst.

“Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!”

“-11, -14, -13, -11, -108…”

Every bullet was aimed at Azure Starry Sky’s head. At last, one produced a green damage value. Wu Hua saw it clearly—the weak point was on the bridge of her nose.

Admiration flickered in Azure Starry Sky’s eyes. “Excellent marksmanship!”

As Wu Hua struggled to his feet, he slapped a healing serum onto his leg. He couldn’t keep going like this; her equipment was too strong. He had to find a fatal weakness, or today would be his doom.

“Prepare to die.” Azure Starry Sky charged again, her sword swirling with that white energy once more.
