Chapter 108: Shen Jixing Delivered a Fierce Punch to Bo Yu
Shen Jixing looked down at the ground cloaked in gray shadows.
Someone was approaching from behind, coming closer with every step—broad shoulders, a narrow waist, impossibly long legs, and a few unruly tufts of hair sticking up at the crown of his head.
Even his shadow was imbued with a languid, flamboyant air.
“So, what am I then? Father-in-law?” he said.
If this business empire had no one belonging to Shen Jixing, then what was Zhou Yili?
“You again.” Bo Yu’s eyes narrowed as he regarded this persistent nouveau riche.
“How did you get in?” Zhou Yili glanced nonchalantly at the crowd of bodyguards, raised his hand, and draped an arm casually over Shen Jixing’s shoulder, pulling him gently into his embrace.
It was a posture both possessive and protective.
“I walked in,” Zhou Yili replied, finding the question adorable. With a half-smile, he added, “Did you expect me to drive in?”
Shen Jixing: “……”
He glanced at Bo Yu’s wheelchair, thinking that such words were no different from dancing on a minefield.
Shen Jixing turned his gaze slightly. “Tone it down. If you provoke him any further, no one’s leaving today.”
Bo Yu was the sort of madman easily swayed by emotion.
In a fit of madness, he could commit any act bordering on the law.
Zhou Yili caught Shen Jixing’s profile, unexpectedly close, long lashes glowing under the moonlight, and his heart betrayed him with a sudden quickening.
He chuckled, “Is he really that frightening?”
Shen Jixing’s silence was answer enough.
He’d been through it more than once; he knew Bo Yu better than anyone.
“So what now? The words are already said,” Zhou Yili seemed to sense his mood, his fingers tracing heat along Shen Jixing’s shoulder, and declared, “You protect me, okay, Brother Shen?”
Shen Jixing: “……”
What a scoundrel.
So he’d barged in so ostentatiously just to be a mascot?
Bo Yu watched the two flirting in front of him, feeling like the vicious mother-in-law in a TV drama, his anger nearly overwhelming his reason.
“Ah Xing,” Bo Yu didn’t signal the bodyguards; his fingers interlaced tightly over his abdomen.
The gesture was still refined and graceful, but anyone could hear the fury simmering beneath.
“Since there are outsiders present, let’s not make a scene.”
“The choice has always been yours.”
Shen Jixing’s gaze fell on Bo Yu.
Before he could retort, Bo Yu spoke slowly, “Four years ago you did well. How you choose today is still up to you.”
It landed like a heavy blow.
The smile vanished from Zhou Yili’s face as he stared coldly at Bo Yu’s unruffled expression.
“So it really is because of you—”

As Zhou Yili moved his foot, Bo Yu’s composure remained, and the bodyguards instantly stepped forward to shield him.
Zhou Yili stopped in place.
It wasn’t fear of the bodyguards—Zhou Yili feared nothing, neither heaven nor earth, and when he lost his mind, he recognized no kin.
But he cared for Shen Jixing.
He looked at the hand resting on his arm and said quietly, “That was the first time I got hurt, and I gave it back to him.”
Shen Jixing held him without a word.
Zhou Yili didn’t retreat, standing his ground for two seconds. “Is that alright?”
He cared deeply about that moment, Shen Jixing thought.
Zhou Yili had always lived smoothly, even if Zhou Hengyang was indifferent, he’d never truly suffered and had always lived recklessly.
It was Shen Jixing who had made him bleed for the first time.
“I’m the one who hurt you. Come back.”
Hearing these words, Zhou Yili’s Adam’s apple shifted faintly.
Even the fiercest lion has moments of utter dejection.
He had never blamed Shen Jixing.
When that blow landed on his head and his mind roared in blank agony, only one thought flashed through his mind.
I’ve made him angry again.
Does he find me annoying?
“If you don’t like it, then I’ll stop pestering you.”
“Shen Jixing, is this really necessary?”
In the tearing roar of his mind, Zhou Yili heard nothing but the blood blurring his vision.
And those cool, long eyes that had never once looked at him.
“Do you really hate me?”
The scene then seemed to overlap with the present.
Zhou Yili always saw those clear eyes, more beautiful than anything in the world, yet incapable of accepting the world.
He knew the little lion was terrifying.
If the little lion was bullied and wanted to bite back, was that not allowed?
“No.”
Shen Jixing’s voice brooked no argument.
Bo Yu seemed to expect this outcome, a slow smile curling his lips.
This was how important he was in Shen Jixing’s life.
Shen Jixing might rebel, might defy him, but would never allow anyone to harm him.
Zhou Yili’s palm clenched tightly; with his insolence, he could disregard anyone.
But in the end, he slowly let go.
His fingertips dropped and turned icy, only to be hooked gently by Shen Jixing, “Didn’t you ask me to protect you? Then stay behind me.”
The cool, calm voice sounded suddenly in his ear.
Zhou Yili looked up abruptly, only to see Shen Jixing gently move him behind, then stride straight toward Bo Yu.
His long leg lifted coldly and kicked the bodyguard’s knee. The guard’s legs went numb instantly, and he collapsed kneeling before Shen Jixing.
“???”

Wait, where did he kick?
How did I just fall to my knees???
Bo Yu’s expression changed. “You—”
Before he could finish, Shen Jixing grabbed his collar with one hand, leaned in with a cold, sharp gaze, and said, “I’ve said more than once, my patience is limited.”
A fist, carried with a gust of force, smashed hard into Bo Yu’s cheek.
“Are you done or not?”
……
The scene plunged into a bizarre silence.
Even Zhou Yili was dumbstruck; even the bodyguards were stunned.
They’d all been wary of Zhou Yili going berserk—who could have guessed that the one to act was the elegant, privileged young master whose fingers never touched the mundane?
Wait, what???
The young master hit the old master???
Bo Yu was sent sprawling with the punch, his wheelchair tipping over, pale, refined lips slowly oozing blood.
Shen Jixing had shown no mercy.
“You’re right.”
For once, Shen Jixing didn’t use an honorific. “The choice has always been mine. I chose to hurt him so badly.”
Zhou Yili saw his long lashes tremble faintly.
That was enough.
He thought, if Shen Jixing hesitated when mentioning it, that was enough.
“You hurt him because of me, didn’t you?”
Bo Yu’s eyes burned crimson; he wanted Zhou Yili to hear the answer.
It was because of him that Zhou Yili once bled from his head.
It was because of him that Shen Jixing had personally given up Zhou Yili.
“I won’t deny you’re part of the reason.”
Shen Jixing was always factual; now he looked at Bo Yu’s disheveled appearance. “But so what?”
“I can not only hit him, but I can hit you too.”
As Shen Jixing reached out again, Bo Yu instinctively closed his eyes.
He was a master of words, but aside from his bodyguards, he was hardly dangerous.
The expected pain didn’t come.
The sound of paper tearing echoed nearby, and Bo Yu saw that eight-year contract shredded before him, scattering like snowflakes.
“Sir, I am grateful for your kindness. You have always been the person I admire most.”
“I regarded you with pride and wished to become your pride.”
Shen Jixing spoke softly as the flurry of paper drifted around them.
“But not anymore. Farewell.”
