Chapter 150: I Will Not Regret This
Lu Qingyue felt that she was perhaps being overly guarded toward his parents.
In truth, after today’s interactions, her impression of the ultra-wealthy class had softened somewhat. Old Mr. Cheng seemed stern and serious, speaking little and mostly listening to them chat. Yet, throughout the entire time, he sat upright and attentive, looking at her with a sincerity that didn't at all resemble the way a powerful man would typically scrutinize a young girl.
Mrs. Cheng, on the other hand, appeared even more amiable. She seemed genuinely interested in her, asking about her studies and her family. Lu Qingyue wasn't certain if they liked her, but based on today's encounter, she felt that they were not bad people, nor were they as calculating as Cheng Xingye had imagined. They were just ordinary parents who, upon meeting their son’s girlfriend, simply wanted to ask a few questions—nothing more.
Lu Qingyue was simple-minded and didn't harbor much suspicion toward others. Seeing his distant expression and low spirits, she couldn't help but want to tease him. She sat on his lap, poking at him rhythmically, and deliberately posited, "So, what if they cut off your financial support and force you to break up with me?"
Plots like this were common in television dramas. Having watched many such melodramatic stories, Lu Qingyue had always been full of imagination regarding the prospect of marrying into a wealthy family.
After being in a somber mood all evening, Cheng Xingye was rarely amused enough by her words to let out a chuckle. He reached up to pinch her cheeky face, lazily retorting, "Then I suppose I’ll have to ask your father if he’d mind taking in a live-in son-in-law."
Lu Qingyue: "..."
She hadn't expected anyone to talk about being a "kept man" with such righteous confidence. Still, her family wasn't short on money; supporting such a stunning, long-legged handsome man wasn't entirely out of the question. Though, she figured her father probably wouldn't be thrilled about supporting a man who lived off his partner, and Lu Yi looked just like the type to be a pushover.
She looked at him earnestly and consoled him with a straight face, "Cheng Xingye, don't be afraid. When I graduate, I can earn money to support you. If that doesn't work, I can always steal my brother’s bank card."
Cheng Xingye: "...?"
He had only been joking, but this little rascal was taking it seriously? She was going to steal Lu Yi’s bank card? Wouldn't his legs actually be broken by Lu Yi for that?
Cheng Xingye found it both amusing and speechless, and suddenly felt the urge to tease her back. He leaned lazily against the sofa, one hand resting on her waist while the other draped carelessly over the armrest, and asked with feigned indifference, "If I were really broke, would you still be with me?"
Lu Qingyue beamed, her eyes curving into crescents, and said with great sincerity, "Of course! If we really reached a dead end, we could just set up a stall under the overpass. You can wear a pair of shorts, and I’ll hang up a QR code for payments. We’ll list the prices clearly—500 for a touch of your leg. Who knows? We might just get rich and reach the pinnacle of life thanks to those long legs of yours!"
Cheng Xingye: "..."
He had underestimated her ability to spout nonsense. But since she had brought it up herself, Cheng Xingye narrowed his eyes dangerously, following the thread of her words, "Speaking of which, how many times have you touched them already? At 500 a pop, it wouldn't be unreasonable to charge you 500,000, would it?"
500,000?! Lu Qingyue’s eyes widened instantly. "Wow! How are you extorting me like this! Haven't you touched me, too?!"
It was supposed to be a fair exchange; why should it cost money to touch him, but not her?
Cheng Xingye couldn't help but laugh, his shoulders shaking and his chest vibrating powerfully. "Those short little legs of yours—what's there to be worth anything?"
Lu Qingyue: "..."
Lu Qingyue had lived this long without ever feeling inferior to anyone. Her height was the only pain point of her life. There were four people in her family; her father and brother were both over six feet tall, and even her mother was 165 centimeters. Whenever the whole family stood together, she became the shortest one.
Unexpectedly attacked for having short legs, she bounced off his lap in anger. "Cheng Xingye! You must apologize to my legs right now!"
So what if her legs were a little short?! Did she eat his rice?! He complained they were short, yet he liked touching them so much. As expected, a woman’s intuition is the most accurate, and a man’s stubborn mouth is the most powerful!
Lu Qingyue grumbled angrily, turning her head away, unwilling to engage with the stubborn man. But just as she turned, her wrist was caught, and she was pulled back with force.
Cheng Xingye chuckled, pulling the bristling little creature back and pressing her firmly onto the sofa. He held her ankle, lifted her fair, slender calf slightly, and with a gesture both pious and playful, lowered his head to kiss the top of her foot. Half-joking and half-serious, he said, "I’m sorry, I shouldn't have said you were short."
The stubble on his chin pricked her skin slightly, and Lu Qingyue’s heart skipped a beat, instantly forgetting her annoyance. With her ankle held in his warm, large hand, the tips of her ears turned red in an instant. She tried to struggle, but was unexpectedly pulled back with such force that she slipped beneath him before she could react.
The familiar shadow loomed over her, his scent weaving through her skin. Lu Qingyue froze for a moment, watching as he pressed his body against hers, and only then did she snap out of her daze.
His breathing beside her ears was heavy and rapid, and a dense trail of kisses fell upon her earlobe, her neck, and her chin. Under the night, his silhouette became sharp and clear. His dark eyes felt tangible as they scanned every inch of her skin, making her heart beat wildly.
As Lu Qingyue sank into his gentle kisses, she was simultaneously hyper-aware of their entanglement. He gave her the same feeling as always: mature, powerful, and full of security. Suddenly, she understood why he had been afraid to touch her before. It wasn't because she was too young, but because he could see more than just the immediate pleasure—he saw the uncertainties of the future, including his own family.
Lu Qingyue suddenly felt a sense of release. She reached out to wrap her arms around his neck, parted her lips, and, mimicking his movements, gently sucked on his lips.
Their lips and teeth intertwined, their bodies entangled, and the rustling of fabric against the sofa sounded like a prelude to everything that was to follow. Yet, at the final step, he stopped just as he had every time before, panting as he rose to head to the bathroom.
The bathroom door was ajar, spilling out flickering light. Lu Qingyue sat on the bed for a while before stepping barefoot off the sofa and walking softly to the door.
"Cheng Xingye," she whispered from the doorway.
Cheng Xingye had his back to her, his shirt already off, revealing a broad, firm back. As someone who exercised regularly, his back muscles were fluid and taut—a sight that was breathtaking and left one parched.
Cheng Xingye turned his head at the sound. The cold, white light fell from above, casting his sharp, handsome profile half in light and half in shadow. There was a sense of desire that was all the more alluring for being so restrained.
He didn't turn around, only asking in a hoarse voice, "Hmm?"
Lu Qingyue looked into his eyes. All her previous hesitation and doubt vanished in an instant, and she suddenly made up her mind. She bit her lip, stepped onto the cold tiled floor, and hugged his waist from behind. Placing her small hands over his thin abdominal muscles, she looked up at his back, suppressing her wildly beating heart, and said with a mix of awkwardness and sincerity, "I know what you're worried about now. But I won't regret it."
