Although, according to Big White, once the medicine was successfully produced, Gina’s illness should be completely curable.

However, considering the time and painstaking procedures involved, Luca had no intention of explaining everything to Shamila again in detail. It was enough for her to understand that her mother Gina’s condition was not hopeless.

In any case, after Big White had finished its examination, there would still be plenty of time for him to slowly explain the preparations required for the treatment.

Only after seeing that the agitated Shamila had calmed down somewhat did Luca speak again.

“Auntie Shamila, you didn’t come here just to bring me dinner, did you? How long do you think it will take for the materials I mentioned earlier to arrive? Oh, and how did things go with that tactical squad?”

The first matter was actually what Luca truly cared about.

Although having bodyguards was important, Luca had just synthesized [Big White] and [Tracking Glasses], two items with extraordinarily powerful functions. His enthusiasm for creating new items was at an all-time high.

Besides, although [Sweet Captive] had a somewhat nonsensical name, it was indeed a mechanical arm capable of providing medical treatment.

Combined with the persistent nuisance of his constant “glowing,” Luca still wanted to synthesize it as soon as possible.

However, the answer Shamila gave to his question caused his anticipation to fade slightly.

“Young Master, the company already has grappling guns and drive rods in stock. They should be delivered to the house tomorrow. And... well... obtaining vibrators of different models shouldn’t be too difficult either.”

“The only troublesome items are the several medical devices you mentioned earlier. Some of them are relatively uncommon products on the market, so they may take longer to arrive.”

There was one thing Shamila had not mentioned: the weapons division at Orange Industries had also grumbled somewhat reluctantly about providing Luca with the “grappling guns” and “drive rods” this time.

After all, strictly speaking, Luca held no actual authority within Orange Industries. At most, he was merely a fourteen-year-old boy who possessed the status of the company owner’s heir.

Having the weapons division provide “materials” once or twice was one thing. The staff could treat it as an opportunity to curry favor with their future employer and indulge a child in playing house.

But if it continued indefinitely, they were bound to develop some resentment.

Moreover, Shamila’s identity as the owner’s “trusted chauffeur” was not enough to intimidate those rather arrogant “research talents” in the weapons division.

That said, they only dared to grumble a little and express their displeasure in veiled terms.

Ultimately, they were doing it for their jobs. Graduate students had to babysit their supervisors’ children, after all. They had no desire to invite trouble by ignoring such minor requests from Luca.

That was why Shamila had chosen not to mention it and add to Luca’s troubles.

Returning to the present, Luca thought for a moment after hearing Shamila’s answer, but decided not to press her further.

“Let’s leave it at that for now. Just let me know whenever any of the medical devices arrive.”

“All right.”

Seeing that Luca had accepted the matter rather casually, Shamila secretly breathed a sigh of relief before answering his other question.

“As for the tactical squad I mentioned earlier, I’ve already contacted Shield Mountain... Oh, that’s the squad leader. They’ve been on standby these past few days, and they set out immediately after we finished communicating.”

“As for the timing, they should arrive by daytime the day after tomorrow at the latest. If everything goes smoothly, they may reach us tomorrow evening. As you know, there have been a lot of different people around Manhattan lately, and that has made things rather troublesome here in Connecticut as well...”

Luca casually shook his head.

“I understand. You don’t need to explain, Auntie Shamila.”

“But you said you were going to check on Madam tomorrow as well.” Shamila sounded slightly hesitant as she said this.

“It’s fine. I still have you, Auntie Shamila.”

“Then you should get some rest early, Young Master. I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll have the cleaning staff tidy this place up tomorrow.”

With that, Shamila prepared to walk toward her room. However, she paused after taking a step, thought for a moment, and added:

“Young Master, you’ve just finished eating. You should move around a little before going to sleep.”

Watching Shamila’s departing figure, Luca could not help smiling.

“Shamila used to be so careless, and now she’s already started worrying about my health.”

In truth, Luca had not intended to go to sleep right away.

At least, he still had something else to take care of before bed.

“Big White, bring your case and come with me.”

As he spoke, Luca strode directly toward the staircase leading to the villa’s basement.

Behind him, Big White first glanced at the cluttered floor around it. Then, taking quick little steps, it hurried to the red case used to store itself, picked it up, and immediately followed Luca.

...

Second basement level.

This basement occupied an enormous area. The entire second underground floor consisted of only this one room.

Yet scattered throughout the room were a 3D printer, a laser cutter, a small CNC machine tool, a spectrum analyzer, a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer, and all kinds of other laboratory equipment.

The assortment of instruments made the otherwise spacious room seem far less empty.

In reality, this basement was a private home laboratory specially commissioned by Luca’s original father, Herman.

At first, it had been built so that Herman could occasionally teach Luca some basic theoretical knowledge, cultivate his interest in electronic engineering, and perhaps work with him on small robotic toys.

However, as more and more equipment was purchased and upgraded, including items replaced by the company, Herman eventually began using the laboratory himself as a small-scale testing facility outside the company, conducting research and experiments there during his free time.

Now, however, Luca was the laboratory’s sole user.

As he looked around the laboratory, memories from the original body’s past inevitably resurfaced in Luca’s mind—happy moments spent together with his father, Herman.

In truth, those memories felt more like a film viewed from the perspective of an outsider.

That was why, after crossing into this world, he had been fully aware that he was not the original Luca, and why his feelings toward his original parents had always seemed somewhat divided.

Even so, no matter how much it resembled a film, a first-person perspective inevitably created a certain sense of immersion.

With these vivid memories before him, and having attended Herman’s funeral earlier that very day, Luca could not help feeling a trace of sorrow.

“Honestly, why am I thinking about all this? Who knows what kind of abilities I might master in the future? When the time comes, bringing Herman back to life would at least repay the debt I owe him for occupying his son’s body.”

He quickly cast aside these “pointless” thoughts and walked briskly toward a computer.

“Big White, come over here! I’m going to upgrade you~”
