The modification program Luka had in mind was, of course, far more complicated than simply changing a voice command.

As mentioned before, Baymax was not merely a medical-care robot.

With only a few adjustments, he would be quite capable in combat as well.

Considering the considerable time it would take to input combat data, modify some of his commands, and even build him an external suit of armor, Luka thought it over and decided to put it off for later.

For now, what he wanted to do more than anything was...

“Baymax, come help me open these packages!”

Looking at the countless odds and ends piled throughout the living room, Luka felt a headache coming on.

This whole mess of random junk was like opening blind boxes.

Baymax, having received the order, tilted his head in confusion and looked at Luka.

“‘Opening packages’ is not included among the commands in my database.”

“It’s fine. Watch what I do next and learn first. Then you can help.”

At once, Baymax straightened up and fixed his large eyes on Luka, watching every one of his movements without blinking.

In fact, most of the things in the living room were ordinary daily necessities that Luka had casually mentioned before having his people order and purchase them.

Everything from firearms and ammunition to infant toys and all kinds of electronic products.

In short, Luka had simply browsed the internet at random, and whenever he saw something interesting, he had his people order it or buy it from a physical store.

The remaining items were things that Luka had inferred might be “core components,” based on technological props he remembered from the films and animations he had watched in his previous life.

There were toy monster-catching balls, accessory pieces from certain cosplay outfits, and things like glasses and watches that were often given advanced technological properties in movies and television dramas.

That said, Luka himself had not placed much hope in whether even one of these objects would trigger a golden-finger appraisal.

Take shoes, for example.

If Luka had not yet synthesized the Leg-Power Enhancement Shoes, the chance of triggering his golden finger with the one or two pairs his subordinates had bought would have been pitifully small.

Fortunately, money was hardly an issue.

All Luka had to do was open the packages and see whether anything inside was glowing.

Besides, more than half of the objects in the living room either had no packaging or came in transparent packaging. A single glance was enough to determine that they were not “core components.”

This greatly reduced the amount of work he actually had to do.

“Still, if there’s a next time, I should have them remove all the packaging before delivering everything to me.”

“Would you like me to contact other people to help you resolve this problem?”

(●—●)

“Uh, it’s fine. I was just talking to myself.”

This was ultimately his first time doing something like this, and Luka had not yet grown accustomed to thinking like a wealthy capitalist. Before, he had only been focused on personally confirming everything for himself.

“Forget it, forget it. Let’s just get this over with first.”

As he spoke, Luka walked toward the largest package in the living room.

It was a rigid rectangular package a little over two meters long. At first glance, it looked like a door lying flat on the floor.

Well, all right—it actually was a door.

While browsing online, Luka had come across a pink, solid-wood door with a frame. According to the seller, it was suitable for use as a girl’s bedroom door.

When he had first announced that he wanted to buy it, Shamira had stared at him strangely for quite some time.

The reason Luka wanted to buy it was naturally because its design looked astonishingly similar to Doraemon’s Anywhere Door.

Although even if he managed to obtain such a convenient and useful object, Luka doubted he could gather the materials required to synthesize it, people still needed to have dreams, didn’t they?

“Uh, as expected, it doesn’t work?”

He did not even need to open the package completely. After cutting open one corner, Luka could already tell that there was not the slightest trace of white light on it.

Why did he feel so unwilling to give up? Perhaps he should visit the door manufacturer’s warehouse later and take a look.

He imagined that if this were Tony Stark, he would probably just buy the entire factory and have them manufacture the doors day and night.

Luka suddenly felt that he really was not wealthy enough.

With some disappointment, he turned his attention to the other items.

“Monster-catching ball, no! Capsule, no! White pocket, no!”

“Baymax, catch!”

He took out another utility knife and casually tossed it to Baymax.

Seeing Baymax carefully pinch the knife between his fingers and clumsily imitate Luka’s movements, Luka’s mood immediately improved.

Unfortunately, that good mood did not last long.

“Schoolbag, no! No, no...”

After opening dozens of packages in succession and examining every piece of “junk” that Luka thought might be related to spatial equipment, he had yet to find a single winner.

“As expected, whenever something involves blind boxes, all it ever brings in the end is disappointment!”

“Your emotions appear to be fluctuating continuously. Please provide me with psychological counseling treatment materials as soon as possible.”

(●—●)

Seeing Luka toss the utility knife in his hand onto the floor with an exasperated sigh, Baymax immediately stopped what he was doing and looked over. By now, his movements had already become increasingly practiced.

“Uh, it’s nothing. Let’s just keep working.”

After suffering one blow after another, Luka abandoned all hope and prepared to transform himself into an emotionless package-opening machine.

Then he suddenly noticed that Baymax was carefully holding a long, narrow box in his chubby hands. It had just been opened.

“This is... Wait! What is this?!”

“This is a package.”

(●—●)

Ignoring Baymax’s useless answer, Luka, who had already grown numb to disappointment, swiftly snatched the box away.

“For fuck’s sake, something finally came out!”

“Well done, Baymax~”

As he spoke, Luka gave Baymax a thumbs-up.

Baymax looked at his own empty, pudgy hands, then at Luka, who had suddenly become inexplicably excited. His round eyes blinked twice in bewilderment.

Luka did not notice Baymax’s expression. His entire attention was already focused on the box in his hands.

Well, it was not really a box. Inside the long, narrow glasses case lay a pair of black half-rimmed glasses.

He reached in and took out the black-framed glasses, which emitted a faint, gentle glow. A pale-blue panel quickly appeared before him.

[Criminal-Tracking Glasses]

[Item Description: Mysterious tracking glasses capable of locating and eavesdropping on enemies within a radius of twenty kilometers through their tracking device. In addition to tracking and surveillance, these remarkable glasses also possess a range of supplementary functions, including bulletproof protection, telescopic vision, night vision, thermal imaging, and network connectivity. [Helpful Tip: In fact, the glasses’ most mysterious ability may be that, even in complete darkness, simply lowering your head will cause the entire lenses to reflect light and conceal your eyes.
