Chapter 119: The Annihilation Plan
Vikaralamon is truly one of the most formidable Deva, and while it may lack agility compared to a Perfect-level Digimon, its massive size makes it a living "anti-army Noble Phantasm" capable of toppling cities.
The colossal boar marched through the streets. It must be said that the Japanese are truly adept at handling disasters; despite the frantic rush to flee, the evacuation remained orderly, with not a single trampling incident—perhaps a testament to their years of rigorous disaster preparedness drills.
However, although the people had all fled, the roads and buildings became the victims. Vikaralamon had no intention of attacking directly; it simply moved in what seemed like an aimless path, yet it dealt more damage to Shinjuku than all previous Deva combined.
Furthermore, this was not even its complete form. Visible data streams connected it to the Digital World, suggesting that this was merely the minimum level of materialization. Feng Xue could scarcely imagine the terrifying destructive power this primordial beast would unleash once the data transmission was complete.
Although Feng Xue and the other two Digimon tried their best to stop it, their attacks as Champion-level Digimon were nothing more than a nuisance to Vikaralamon. Even the full-power blast from Growlmon—whose attack power supposedly rivaled that of a Perfect-level—failed to singe a single bristle on the beast's hide.
"Damn it, the defense is so high that only a Perfect-level specializing in offense could hope to break through! It's almost on par with Chrome Digizoid!" Feng Xue frowned. Using data from Rika’s support card, he fired a Holy Arrow, yet even that struck Vikaralamon like a bullet from a toy gun, not even counting as a surface scratch.
"This can't go on!" Feng Xue looked up at the data stream connecting the sky to the earth, his expression darkening. Every second, at least 10MB of data was poured into Vikaralamon. In other words, the beast’s strength was increasing by the equivalent of ten Champion-level Digimon every second. In less than an hour, its combat power would double!
At that very moment, the three Tamers suddenly gripped their cards and closed their eyes. Feng Xue felt an unprecedented surge of emotional energy erupting from them. The cards in their hands glowed with a deep azure light, and in the next heartbeat, three Blue Cards were manifested right before his eyes.
"Card Slash! Matrix Evolution!" (x3)
Accompanied by a non-existent evolution sound effect, Feng Xue felt a massive influx of data flooding his body. The bottleneck that had troubled him for days shattered instantly. A surge of power began to reshape his form, and before he could even process the transformation, the evolution was complete.
"Phelesmon: Butler Mode!" The name appeared in Feng Xue’s mind, accompanied by a strange smirk. As a demon modeled after the evil spirits in Faust, if the original Phelesmon was a debauched noble in an open-chested outfit, then this Butler Mode was a rigorous aristocrat in courtly attire. (A butler is not a servant; in the past, the position was reserved for the eldest son of a noble house. Strictly speaking, a butler is also a noble; it is only in modern times that the role has become a mere profession.)
The white medieval court suit looked elegant and dignified. A pair of platinum-gold wings were pressed tightly against his back, looking like mere ornaments on the garment unless unfolded. Unlike a standard European court suit, this attire did not include a ceremonial sword. Instead, a gorgeous quiver containing twelve arrows hung at his waist. Across his back was a short bow formed by two intertwined snakes—the spirit bow that had gained its own name upon the completion of his Vollständig: [The Feast]!
If one were to ignore his red demonic skin, Feng Xue now looked exactly like a medieval noble butler preparing for a hunt.
Simultaneously, three skills and some knowledge appeared in his mind. Aside from Phelesmon’s standard Demon's Roar and Dark Statue, he possessed [Plague Shot]. The description stated it fired an arrow infused with a potent virus, plunging the enemy into an endless cycle of negative status effects.
Were these the twelve arrows in the quiver at his waist? As a Digimon’s innate armament, this quiver of [Plague] arrows, though limited to twelve, represented twelve distinct attributes. The quiver featured an automatic retrieval function, so there was no fear of running out of ammunition.
Feng Xue was pleased with this; at least he now had arrows he could fire directly without relying on Rika’s support. Then again, for someone like him who would soon return to the Digital World, data energy was everywhere—perhaps he wouldn't need Rika’s support much longer?
At this thought, Feng Xue’s expression darkened, but he quickly refocused on the task at hand. He snatched an arrow and aimed it at Vikaralamon’s eye.
"Plague Shot!" Following the skill’s activation sound, an arrow glowing with an orange luster struck Vikaralamon’s body, followed by a thunderous explosion.
However, the violent blast only caused Vikaralamon to let out a howl. Conversely, the light-bodied Rapidmon was sent flying by the gale generated by the blast.
"Hey! Be careful!" Rika shouted in dissatisfaction, though her hands never stopped supporting them with cards.
"Just evolved, I’m not used to the arrow’s power yet!" Feng Xue chuckled sheepishly. He drew a yellow arrow. This time, as the arrow struck Vikaralamon, it seemed to melt into the beast's fur, followed by a pained roar from the monster!
The previously rampaging Vikaralamon suddenly slowed down, its roars becoming weak and listless, much like an athlete who had just finished a marathon and couldn't immediately stop moving.
"So the yellow arrow is for weakness?" Feng Xue retrieved the arrow’s data from his mind with a wicked grin.
But before the smile could last, Vikaralamon regained its strength. Its massive body stampeded through the streets even faster than before, as if in retaliation for Feng Xue’s attack. It began to intentionally target the commercial buildings that had only been cracked by its passing, smashing them into ruins.
"Even if you take it out on the buildings, they aren't mine..." Feng Xue muttered to himself, continuing to select an arrow from his waist.
Vikaralamon was a Digimon with a very strong sense of purpose. It ignored the attacks from the three Perfect-level Digimon, marching steadily toward a target only it knew. The visible data stream from the sky continued to pour into its body, and as it moved, Vikaralamon seemed to be unzipping the sky, tearing open a long, blue river composed of data.
Watching this scene, the expressions of both the Digimon and the Tamers grew grim.
