Chapter 100: Evolution
The Vanquisher's Holy Body simultaneously infuses spirit particles into the veins and arteries, achieving full-body spiritization through the capillaries that weave throughout the entire form. This not only heightens every attribute of the Vanquisher but also deepens their affinity for spirit particles.
Yet such a body demands a formidable physique to endure the process; otherwise, the particles struggle to penetrate the capillaries. Members of the classical school of Vanquishers harness the Spirit Hand Gloves as a vessel of spirit armor, channeling high-density spirit particles into it. By surrendering their innate powers, they can forcibly inject the particles directly into the body. This is the precursor to the final form of the Vanquisher—the ultimate embodiment of their kind.
The Habahe lineage, however, possesses vast stretches of time. Through endless cycles of switching their blood armor across the ages, their bodies gradually adapt to the infusion of spirit particles, rendering the Holy Body a power they may reuse at will.
Strictly speaking, Feng Xue's Digimon form has mastered the blood armor for centuries. Moreover, a Digimon's physique inherently surpasses that of any human. It should, in principle, be able to withstand the immense pressure of the Holy Body.
Nevertheless, Feng Xue has only been in the real world for a few short months. In essence, this body is not a data entity from the digital realm but one shaped from what appears to be protein, with an age measured merely in months. Whether it can bear such overwhelming force remains uncertain—even Feng Xue harbors doubts.
Yet the moment offers no respite. The colossal Ice Demon Beast now towers far beyond the reach of a single Kiru beam or Kiru cannon. Even an Angel Beast would find its dual ice-and-dark attributes a formidable challenge.
As for Great Ears, there is no need to dwell on it; the matter is best set aside.
At this juncture, Feng Xue has already steeled himself for the worst. Fortunately, the Digimon world treats death with unusual generosity; at most, one merely reverts to a juvenile phase.
The moment is swift. As the Ice Demon Beast finishes its gigantic transformation, the holy factors swirling about Feng Xue surge violently into his form. In that instant, a tearing agony rips through every fiber of his body.
“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” Miserable wails erupt from Feng Xue’s lips. His arched back suddenly bulges with four small swellings. Accompanying the cries, two pairs of platinum wings, gleaming with metallic luster, burst forth from his back.
A halo forged entirely of holy factors materializes upon his head. Countless feather-like light points, stirred by the wings’ motion, condense into luminous patches that settle across his form, drifting like ethereal guardians.
“Absurd! How utterly absurd!” The Ice Demon Beast roars, battling the terror of the unknown in his heart. Giant claws, each as large as a man, hammer down toward the diminutive Feng Xue.
“Too insignificant!” Feng Xue extends his left hand. The light patches coalesce before him, and a pure-white, angular form abruptly manifests, completely deflecting the enhanced ultimate technique of the Ice Demon Beast.
Enduring the relentless erosion of his body by holy factors, Feng Xue’s face twists with irritation.
“Disappear!” Feng Xue spreads his wings and soars skyward. The spectacle resembles the charge of angels against colossal demons from myth.
Li Jianliang can only cover his eyes in helpless dismay. He already foresees the headlines of tomorrow’s news: Tokyo’s Sudden Giant Demon, Four-Winged Angel Engages—Myth or Reality? Illusion or Truth?
Yet the two protagonists feel no such doubt. In their eyes, only one thing exists: destroy the foe, absorb its data, and evolve. That is the sole purpose burning in both their hearts.
It is not that Feng Xue has lost his senses, but a voice from the void urges them both—by absorbing the opponent’s data, one may advance further.
Is it because of their shared origin? A fleeting thought crosses Feng Xue’s mind, only to be shattered by fresh torment.
Sensing the body being devoured by holy factors, he realizes his current state cannot endure long.
“Though I have not forged a holy text, it is sufficient.” Lacking solid ground, his Eight Extremes Fist cannot unleash its full might. Yet, with flight acceleration, the punch he launches at the Ice Demon Beast carries the force of a plane striking a bird.
“Crack, crack!” The Ice Demon Beast’s chest splits like fracturing ice. Yet the same sound issues from Feng Xue’s left wrist. It matters little; under the impact, the beast struggles to control its swollen form and loses balance in its panic.
“Come!” Feng Xue’s left wrist sheath suddenly unfolds, revealing a platinum short bow adorned with blue stripes. Perhaps due to imperfect technique, it has yet to receive a name.
Feng Xue draws the string with his right hand. A sharp pain flares from his fractured left hand, but he ignores it; pain of a thousand knives already courses through every inch of his frame.
The bow stretches like a full moon. Streams of spirit particles gather along the string—light points drifting about Feng Xue, the ice armor covering the Ice Demon Beast’s surface, and even the stray data drifting from the bodies of Great Ears and Kil.
Countless data points converge, coalescing into a substantial arrow that rests upon Feng Xue’s bow.
“This arrow will end you!” Feng Xue releases the string without hesitation.
The arrow, thin as a toothpick, transforms into a pillar of light that pierces heaven and earth, manifesting a white rainbow across the moon over Tokyo’s bustling streets.
“Impossible! Too young! How could it be?” Accompanied by the Ice Demon Beast’s furious roar, the pillar bursts through its chest, reducing its colossal form to scattered data.
“Hoo…” Before Feng Xue can dispel the Holy Body, the Ice Demon Beast’s data floods into him. A brilliant white light flares, and the Great Ears appears upon the rooftop.
“Wait, I haven’t dispersed the Holy Body yet! Please don’t turn me into an angel beast or something!” Feng Xue can only wail in protest. His body, already one and a half meters tall, begins to swell again, reaching one meter eighty-five before halting. With horns, it might approach two meters. Yet this evolution surpasses all expectations.
Although the black, horned head confirms his demonic nature, he bears no trace of demonic form. His hands are not elongated like those of ordinary demonic beasts but possess the balanced proportions of humanity. His body lacks the heavy-metal punk aesthetic of common Digimon; instead, he wears a perfectly tailored white tailcoat suit and polished black leather boots that make him appear every inch the courteous British gentleman.
Most notably, behind him are not the tattered bat wings typical of demonic beasts, but a pair of platinum wings. Their metallic sheen is so pronounced that they could almost pass for the wings of an Angel Beast.
