Chapter 058: Rampaging Xiaoyu
Li Gang was already big and robust; during his school days, he’d captained the basketball team, his physique as sturdy as an ox. Seeing Li Huan charge forward, he didn't hesitate, diving toward the other two men on the opposite side.
The six or seven young men had approached with fierce bravado, but Li Gang’s imposing presence made them falter. Yet Li Huan and Xiao Yu appeared much weaker, and their side outnumbered the opposition two to one. Their confidence surged again; with a shout, they swung their fists and surrounded the trio.
Li Huan easily landed a punch on a thug's eye socket, his fist drawing a spurt of blood. The man grunted, clutching his eye as he collapsed to the ground, howling in pain. Though the attackers seemed many, they couldn’t withstand much. Li Huan dispatched two with a few blows and kicks. Still, he was encircled, and a blond-haired thug seized the opening, darting up the steps and swinging his fist at Xiao Yu.
Despite his delicate appearance, Xiao Yu possessed a fierce streak. Pulled behind Li Gang, he stood atop the steps. When he saw the blond thug rushing toward him, Xiao Yu shrieked and kicked at the man's stomach. The thug, quick to react, grabbed Xiao Yu’s leg, and the two collided, tumbling down the steps in a tangled scuffle.
“Damn, are you even a man with those long nails—shit, you bit me—ah!” The blond’s cries rang out, his voice tinged with aggrieved sobs.
Both sides were startled by his shrieks. Li Huan saw Xiao Yu pinned beneath the blond and knew he’d suffer if it continued. With a fierce shout, he kicked another attacker in the face, flattening his nose, then strode over and lashed his foot at the blond’s waist. With a deft flick, he sent him sprawling, and hauled Xiao Yu to his feet. Li Gang, having dealt with his own adversaries, dusted off his hands and walked over. “Xiao Yu, you alright, kid?”
“Pah!” Xiao Yu spat disdainfully as if he'd tasted something foul. His once fair cheek now bore a scratch, likely from a fingernail, but the blond lying on the ground was in far worse shape: his face was a mass of bloodied streaks, with a particularly deep bite mark on his shoulder.
Witnessing this, Li Gang suddenly felt a chill in his heart. Thankfully, everyone was drunk last night—if he’d done anything beastly to Xiao Yu while sober, the outcome might have been even grimmer than for the guy sprawled here.
Li Huan, trained in martial arts and recently feeling an inexplicable surge of strength and agility, had toppled four attackers. The remaining three were dispatched by Li Gang and Xiao Yu, left on the ground moaning in agony.
Just then, the young man and Yu Mei rushed out. They’d thought to catch Li Gang’s group off guard, but the outcome was wholly unexpected. The young man, especially, trembled when he saw his companion’s mutilated, blood-streaked face lying before him.
“You just wait! We’ll settle this score sooner or later!” The young man, his face flushed with anger, had assumed he’d fleece a fat lamb, but the reality left him livid.
“Keep fifty thousand in cash ready. Next time we come for you, if there’s no money, look at his face to know what’s in store!” Li Huan snorted coldly, pointing at the blond’s face, now torn and tattered by Xiao Yu.
Xiao Yu, quick on the uptake, darted over and delivered another vicious kick to the blond’s backside—unfortunately, his aim was oddly precise, striking right at the coccyx.
Another scream rang out, and tears of humiliation streamed down the blond’s face. He swore never again would he associate with Xiao Yu or anyone of his peculiar breed.
Leaving Riverside Park, the three hailed a cab to the hospital. Xiao Yu’s cheek was scratched—not deeply, but glaringly obvious against his pale skin. Fearing a scar, he rejected Li Gang’s suggestion to disinfect the wound with saliva and insisted on proper medical treatment.
Arriving at the medical university’s affiliated hospital, they found a long queue for registration. Xiao Yu frowned, but for the sake of his delicate features, decided to wait an hour to register.
One annoyance with top-tier hospitals: no matter how minor the ailment, one must register before seeing a doctor, or else no diagnosis is offered. Cases like Xiao Yu’s were unlikely to warrant a surgeon’s attention; his concern for his face was simply excessive.
Of course, as the injured party, Xiao Yu didn’t line up himself—Li Gang did it for him, while Li Huan bought wet wipes to clean the blood from Xiao Yu's face.
Watching Xiao Yu nestled beside Li Huan, bystanders cast odd glances their way—the kind reserved for rumors of certain unconventional relationships. Xiao Yu, regardless of gender, was the sort who could disarm anyone with a pout or a smile.
Li Huan nearly lost his breakfast from Xiao Yu’s antics, and he too sensed the crowd’s curious stares. He was about to hand Xiao Yu the wipes for him to clean up when suddenly a voice called out nearby.
“Hey, is that you?” A girl in a nurse’s uniform stood before Li Huan, hand covering her mouth in surprise, as if she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Li Huan looked up, momentarily stunned—it was Han Xue Mi, the nurse whose room he’d accidentally entered before. Later, when he’d transformed into a young girl, he’d even caught a ride with her, and, embarrassingly, touched her chest.
Recalling this, Li Huan’s gaze instinctively dropped a few inches. He saw her full chest pressing against her uniform, and through the gap between two buttons, glimpsed pink lace underneath.
“Han Xue Mi?” Li Huan hadn’t expected to encounter her here and blurted out her name—only then realizing he’d learned it after transforming into a girl, and they hadn’t actually exchanged names before.
“How do you know my name?” Han Xue Mi blinked in confusion. She remembered that night—a man had barged into her room, muttering unintelligible things. Later she pieced together what had happened.
“You have a name tag.” Li Huan pointed to her chest, though his eyes couldn’t help but stray to the gap in her uniform.
“Oh!” Han Xue Mi glanced down and nodded, understanding. Tilting her head, she looked at Xiao Yu. “What happened to your girlfriend’s face?”
“Who are you talking about? You’re the one who’s his girlfriend—how annoying!” Xiao Yu, initially pleased to be mistaken for Li Huan’s girlfriend, suddenly remembered he was a man and flew into a rage, nearly stripping down to prove it to Han Xue Mi.
“Oh! Sorry, I didn’t realize, my apologies!” Han Xue Mi blushed, her large eyes flicking to Xiao Yu’s chest. Seeing it was flat, she confirmed he was indeed male and hastily apologized, her tone tinged with a coquettish charm.
“Hmph, big chest, empty head!” Xiao Yu seemed particularly repulsed by women who, like Han Xue Mi, flaunted both cuteness and curves, especially those who sidled up to Li Huan.
Li Huan broke out in a cold sweat, seeing Xiao Yu’s jealous look and fearing Han Xue Mi might notice something amiss. He quickly stepped forward to shield Xiao Yu. “About that night—I still haven’t apologized. I truly didn’t mean to barge into your room!”
“Mm!” Han Xue Mi flushed at the mention of that night, shaking her head to show she didn’t mind. Suddenly, she recalled the girl who’d caught a ride with her afterward. It was strange—the girl claimed to be a nurse here, yet Han Xue Mi hadn’t seen her again.
Not wanting to linger on the topic, Han Xue Mi pointed at Xiao Yu and asked curiously, “Your boyfriend—no, your friend’s face, what happened?”
“It’s nothing, just a scratch. We’re here to see a doctor.” Li Huan felt awkward; it hardly seemed necessary to go through all this trouble for such a minor injury, but Xiao Yu was so vain about his face he had no choice.
Han Xue Mi examined Xiao Yu’s face carefully. “If you wait too long, the wound will dry out and leave a scar.”
Xiao Yu looked skeptical, glancing at Li Huan for guidance.
Li Huan looked over at Li Gang, who’d barely moved in the queue, having even let an elderly lady cut ahead. At this rate, they’d wait an hour and still not be seen.
“So what should we do?” Li Huan understood Han Xue Mi’s implication—she worked as a nurse, so her advice was worth considering, and he hoped she might help.
“Come with me. I have disinfectant and medicine—just need to wipe it down.” Han Xue Mi gestured to the corridor behind her, where the doctors’ offices were located.
Li Huan hurriedly stood, called Li Gang, and led Xiao Yu after Han Xue Mi. He didn’t want to waste hours in line just to buy a bottle of disinfectant for a certain pretty boy.
