Chapter Forty-Nine: Moon Princess

This was the first reaction from Liu Bei and the others—why had this little girl suddenly awakened and uttered such words? If they hadn’t known that the Yellow Turbans believed in the so-called Yellow Heaven and Zhang Jiao himself, Liu Bei might have ordered her seized right away. From what these people had said, he knew that the girl before him possessed a remarkable talent for magical cultivation, but if she truly was of the same ilk as Zhang Jiao, then for the sake of the Han, he could only capture her and deliver her to the emperor for judgment.
“Ah Chou! Are you alright?” The elderly Huang hurried to the girl’s side and lifted her into his arms. He took the jade slip from her hand and handed it to Liu Bei.
The girl quickly reached out, and in a flash, the jade slip flew from Liu Bei’s hand back into hers.
“You—” She started to speak, but before she could utter a word, the silver glow on her forehead vanished and she fainted in Huang’s arms, dropping the jade slip to the ground.
Liu Bei finally came to his senses, bent down, and picked up the jade slip. “Thank you, Elder Huang, for your cooperation. I will not report your daughter’s situation. Let this matter end here.” He then looked around and clasped his hands in salute. “Everyone, please do not trouble a little girl any further.”
“We all follow General Liu’s lead! Besides, Elder Huang is a respected figure here, so of course we won’t speak of this again! We guarantee no one will let word of this incident spread!” Zhang Hai declared, and the representatives from other families nodded in agreement.
Liu Bei looked to Elder Huang. “Elder Huang, from now on, try not to let your daughter display such abilities. Although the Yellow Turbans have been quelled, many remnants remain, and you do not wish to invite trouble.” He glanced once more at the girl in Huang’s arms, who seemed peacefully asleep.
“Well then, I have to deal with these prisoners. Please do not wander about. Family heads, please keep the civilians calm; we will restore order to Wan City as soon as possible.” Liu Bei said, and the others agreed—after all, Liu Bei now governed Wan City, and without him and his soldiers, they might not survive the night.
Meanwhile, Sun Meng looked at the contract card in his hand and finally understood how the girl had been summoned. The contract was not truly with the girl herself, but with her destiny. With help from the system, he could summon her from other worlds or the main city through the card, allowing her to exist as a normal person—able to cultivate, grow, and become stronger.
“It seems I’ll have to wait until I return to the main city to summon her again,” Sun Meng thought. The card revealed no further information, but he knew more would unlock once he was back.
“Huang, Ah Chou, Yueying. Could she be Huang Yueying? How could she be here at this time, and the age doesn’t match either!” Sun Meng muttered.
“Contestant, please retain such contract cards for future use. Currently, the probability that this girl is the historical Huang Yueying is high. Based on prior performance and the world’s power system, she will offer little to no assistance and may even be a burden. Therefore, before the first phase assessment, do not invest in her.” The red barrage scrolled past, and Sun Meng nodded.

The task was completed, another merit added, and since no new task had triggered, he would leave at midnight. That evening, Sun Meng attended a celebratory banquet with Liu Bei and the others, hosted by the city’s family heads. Through their inquiries, they quickly uncovered key details about Liu Bei—royal lineage, recognized by Liu Yan, the current governor of Youzhou, disciple of Lu Zhi, and participant in the battle at Guangzong. With such credentials and connections, a government post was assured, perhaps even an assignment to Wan City.
Sun Meng had little interest in these social interactions; he wasn’t planning to stay long. He wanted to find an opportunity to speak with Elder Huang about Huang Yueying, but after a brief appearance, Huang retired to care for his daughter and avoided further conversation.
Sun Meng considered seeking him out—if he truly was Huang Yueying’s father, the future father-in-law of Zhuge Liang, his own knowledge must be considerable. But under current circumstances, Sun Meng doubted he could learn anything useful. Time was short and perfection unattainable; perhaps later, through Yueying, he could gain relevant information. According to the contract card, Yueying’s memory would be shared between her summoned self and her original world.
He left a letter in his room, stating the Yellow Turbans had been eliminated and he was returning to the mountains to continue his cultivation.
Back in the main city, he exchanged his merits. To his surprise, there were no item or reward options, only points—quite a lot, totaling fifty thousand, leaving Sun Meng unsure how to spend them.
The next moment, his contract card glowed, projecting a virtual image and detailed data of Yueying. The contract was completed, deducting ten thousand points, and Yueying materialized. She bore a silver crescent mark on her forehead, her eyes were silver, she hovered barefoot in the air.
“Are you my contractor?” Yueying asked, her voice ethereal and childlike, prompting Sun Meng to smile kindly.
“Hello, Yueying. I’m Sun Meng. Sorry for contracting you without your full consent.” Sun Meng extended his hand, knowing Yueying would not have been fully conscious at the time due to insufficient spiritual strength. But her awareness remained; she wanted to awaken, not worry her father, and avoid bringing trouble to her family.
Under those conditions, the contract took effect.
Yueying placed her small hand atop Sun Meng’s. “Human, Yueying, greets her lord!” Her serious tone was unexpectedly adorable, and she immediately collapsed into Sun Meng’s arms. Though she had received her inheritance, her strength lagged behind. According to the system’s evaluation, her power could reach Tier Two at full burst, but normally only Tier One late stage.
“Ah ah ah, host, let go of that loli!”
“Death penalty warning! Death penalty warning!”
“She’s so cute, is she really from ancient times?”

“Now I believe cultivation can enhance beauty!”
“Off to cultivate, hoping to become handsome!”
“Same here!”
“Count me in!”
…
Seeing these comments on the screen, Sun Meng smiled helplessly. Yueying tugged at his sleeve, “Lord, can all these brothers and sisters see us?” Little Yueying blinked, not fully comprehending the language, though she could see the barrage.
“Yueying, can you tell me what abilities you have now?” Sun Meng asked.
“I can use Moonlight magic, command military formation clouds, and craft puppet machines,” Yueying counted on her fingers. “But Moonlight magic is inherited, so I need to keep improving to unlock it. Formation clouds are from the jade slip; I barely memorized them. Puppet machines I learned from books, and in my original world, I could keep expanding my knowledge to help my lord.”
Sun Meng looked at Yueying’s expression and smiled gently. “Yueying is already amazing. What you need now is to grow, so don’t overwork yourself.”
Yueying shook her head. “Moonlight magic comes from the Moon God’s inheritance. Once I break a seal and receive energy infusion, my body will naturally grow without harm. I hope I can help my lord as soon as possible!”
Seeing Yueying’s resolute gaze, Sun Meng nodded with a smile. “Alright! If Yueying needs anything, just say so! Now your lord is quite wealthy!” He felt for once the comfort of having resources at hand, but a red barrage soon scrolled past.
“Contestant, please transmit the knowledge of formation clouds and military formations to Earth first.”
