Chapter 13: The Rampaging Serpent Woman Shocks Everyone
Although the Snake Woman had killed Jess, Jess’s counterattack before dying had removed the Snake Woman’s buffs.
The Spider was in a strong position and could easily finish off the Snake Woman.
Yet at this moment, Chen Yan was still smiling…
Not just the audience, even the two commentators at the booth were somewhat speechless.
...
“World6! Kill him!!!” iCOn’s eyes were red as he frantically commanded from the fountain.
World6 did not respond, his eyes fixed intently on the Snake Woman as he controlled the Spider to press forward.
However, the Snake Woman’s movement was tricky; she darted directly into the minion wave.
She continuously used her Q skill combined with her E skill to heal from minions, and with Corrupting Potion’s regeneration, her health visibly surged upwards.
Zhi Huan’s eyes lit up. “The Snake Woman is still playing! Looks like she really has a chance!”
Guan Zeyuan also said, “Why hasn’t the Spider made a move yet? If he doesn’t act soon, there won’t be any chance left.”
No sooner had he spoken than the Spider moved.
Smite, Cocoon!
A minion was slain by Smite, and in that instant, the Spider’s Cocoon flew towards the Snake Woman.
WAQ!
At the same time, the Spider unleashed Thunder, then shifted into spider form, using his E skill to leap beside the Snake Woman.
World6’s sequence of actions was fluid and seamless.
However, before the Cocoon struck, the Snake Woman advanced rather than retreating, closing the distance on the Spider.
When hit by the Cocoon, the Spider was afflicted with the Weakened debuff.
This drastically reduced all of the Spider’s burst damage.
“Weakened! The Snake Woman’s Weakened debuff just ended!”
Zhi Huan calmly explained, “The Weakened debuff has a 210-second cooldown. The Snake Woman used it about two minutes and thirty seconds ago, so it just expired.”
“Then, can the Spider still kill the Snake Woman?” Guan Zeyuan looked at the screen, unable to judge.
Normally, the Spider’s burst combo would have taken the Snake Woman down.
But with so much damage reduced by Weakened, the Snake Woman clearly still had room to maneuver.
“Awesome!”
The chat was full of cheers.
In the game, World6’s heart skipped a beat, sensing trouble.
The next moment, the Snake Woman launched a counterattack.
Poison mist appeared beneath the Spider’s feet, and venom spewed from the Snake Woman’s mouth.
With passive healing plus Corrupting Potion regeneration, the Spider, lacking burst skills, was losing health slower than the Snake Woman was recovering.
“This is bad…”
World6’s eyes went vacant as he realized the outcome.
---
“EDG’s Chen Yan has killed OMG’s World6.”
The system’s kill notification echoed through the arena, silencing the crowd.
Then, an explosive cheer broke out.
“666!”
“A one-versus-two!”
“OMG’s mid and jungle are just a mess.”
“Mid-jungle synergy: one death, one feeding.”
“Is this a professional match? Feels like Silver rank.”
The crowd went wild.
Some recalled Chen Yan’s smile on camera and remarked, “That wasn’t a helpless smile. It was the scornful smile of a hunter seeing his prey fall into the trap.”
“When the King of Hell smiles, life and death become uncertain.”
“EDG’s rookie is pretty impressive.”
The chat surged, and Guan Zeyuan and Zhi Huan enthusiastically praised the play on stage.
“No way, that was some skill! Young players really love flashy plays,” Guan Zeyuan sighed with admiration. “Just when we thought the Snake Woman was doomed, this EDG rookie showed us the true charm of League of Legends.”
A desperate comeback is always the most thrilling moment.
Even the usually calm Zhi Huan was visibly excited.
“The Snake Woman’s play was incredibly precise. First, she hit level six and killed Jess, then noticed the Spider didn’t panic but instead drank a potion and healed with minions.
When the Spider approached, she reversed her movement, used Weakened to reduce his damage, and ultimately pulled off a successful counterkill.
The mechanics are one thing, but the clarity of thought and composure were remarkable.”
Zhi Huan’s analysis sparked even louder cheers.
Inside EDG, the teammates were stunned.
Especially Ai Loli, who was dazed.
He was still jungling, but mid lane was killing nonstop, one-versus-two, making him look like the one feeding.
Though he did feed occasionally, it had never been this obvious before Chen Yan took over mid.
“Um… do you need help mid?” Ai Loli asked cautiously.
Chen Yan said nothing; in truth, he hadn’t counted on Ai Loli’s assistance.
But since Ai Loli volunteered, it wasn’t a bad idea.
“Jess’s Flash is almost ready. When he comes up, just kick him out of the turret.”
“You won’t die; he has no damage.”
Chen Yan directed, and Ai Loli eagerly agreed, “Got it! Watch me kick him!”
After finishing his items, Chen Yan returned to lane with the Tear of the Goddess and the Lost Chapter.
This build made him very hard to kill mid, and he could confidently pressure Jess.
Chen Yan pushed the wave while timing Jess’s Flash cooldown.
---
To the side, Ai Loli’s Lee Sin was in position.
As Chen Yan pushed the wave under the turret, Lee Sin stealthily approached behind Jess and kicked him out of turret range.
But awkwardly, Lee Sin intended to combo R-Q, yet after using R, his Q was on cooldown.
“4396!”
“Following the master’s legacy.”
The chat exploded with messages.
In EDG’s backstage lounge, everyone looked at the team captain, clearly seeing his reaction.
“My R-Q isn’t on cooldown now!”
In-game, Chen Yan was a bit speechless.
But then remembering the jungler’s ID was Ai Loli, he sighed in relief.
He couldn’t expect too much from him.
Besides, the damage was enough.
Chen Yan dealt damage while timing Jess’s Flash cooldown.
If Lee Sin’s Q wasn’t on cooldown, Jess would be killed before his Flash was ready; if it was, more caution was needed.
iCOn was frantically spamming Flash.
But just as Flash was about to be available, the Snake Woman used her ultimate to trap Jess’s feet.
The ground effect prevented any displacement skills, including Flash.
“Slap!”
The screen faded to grayscale again, and iCOn slammed his hand hard on the keyboard.
After venting his frustration, he slumped in his chair like a deflated balloon.
He knew he had lost, utterly and completely.
Yet iCOn’s ordeal was only beginning.
Jess respawned and was forced to use Flash after being pressured mid by Thresh roaming.
After Thresh left, the Snake Woman ulted and petrified Jess, securing another solo kill.
When the system’s kill notification sounded again, both commentators and audience had grown numb.
If team names were hidden, they might have doubted this was a professional match.
“This game’s a mess now,” Guan Zeyuan remarked. “You have to admit, this EDG rookie is strong.”
“That also has to do with the champion,” Zhi Huan added. “Jess is like that—once he dies once, he becomes easier to kill each time after.”
But no matter what, the fact remained: iCOn was being relentlessly killed by a rookie.
Yet just when everyone thought the match would end quickly, the game began to take an unexpected turn.
