Chapter 21: Brother Yi, I Respect You the Most

Inside the classroom, Su Yi lay face down on the desk with his eyes closed. Time passed, and his consciousness gradually dissolved into a hazy realm; the surrounding world dimmed and lost its color. At this moment, all space became a sensationless void, reduced to faint gray-white outlines.
In the silent darkness, tiny points of light emerged. The energy contained within the irradiated wasteland subtly revealed itself, emitting a faint green glow.
Absorbing energy directly from the environment was a perilous endeavor; the impurities were too numerous. Even machines powered by such energy would deteriorate from absorbing too much corruption. Otherwise, the wasteland would have no energy shortage.
If machines were so vulnerable, human bodies were no exception.
Normal people would surely perish if they attempted to absorb large amounts of this energy. No matter how powerful the psychic or genetically modified individuals in the wasteland were, none dared to do so recklessly. To induce transformation in the body, the process had to be gradual, step by step.
The principles of economy and restraint were hard-earned lessons distilled from countless trials and tribulations by wasteland survivors.
Yet at this moment, Su Yi defied these two principles. He felt the surrounding energy, relaxing every pore of his body without discrimination, allowing his cells—withered from prolonged stay on Blue Star—to continuously draw in the energy, directing it through his entire meridian system.
The radioactive energy mingled with his blood, requiring no further guidance, it automatically converged towards his heart.
As the energy surged inward, a faint white flame inexplicably flickered in his previously hollow heart.
This flame was slender, like a candle flickering in the wind, seemingly on the verge of extinguishing at any moment.
Yet under its scorching heat, impurities were effortlessly filtered away. The original green glow faded into crystalline energy, which ultimately nourished every cell in his body.
Thus, he successfully completed his first energy storage.
Once the flame in his chest stabilized, Su Yi awoke from the desk. Although it was only five degrees outside, his forehead was slightly sweaty, and his cheeks flushed as if he had just run a marathon.
However, he quickly controlled these abnormal reactions, and his complexion soon returned to normal.
“Commander, have you just started storing radiation energy...?”
Loli Xi blinked as she stared at Su Yi’s transformation, her eyes inadvertently drifting to the floor.
The commander subdued her without relying on radiation energy, using only martial skills—a gap so vast it was almost incomprehensible.
Su Yi adjusted his state, opened his hand, then clenched it tightly. After holding for about five seconds, he suddenly exerted force to clench his fist hard, causing faint ripples to ripple through the air.
Frowning at this, he released and clenched his hand repeatedly six times before nodding with satisfaction.
“The weapons brought from the wasteland should now be usable...”
Nourished by the radioactive energy, Su Yi’s strength had significantly recovered. The density of his muscles and the toughness of his bones had doubled, reaching the current limit of his potential.
Without considering technique or psychic powers, relying solely on his physical strength, ordinary firearms could no longer harm him. Unless he faced large-caliber armor-piercing bullets, no bullets could penetrate his skin.

This was a good thing; no one ever complained about being too strong, and Su Yi was no exception.
He confirmed his strength repeatedly, ensuring he knew how to control it before exhaling a relieved breath.
Uncertainty about one’s power was dangerous, especially when dealing with fragile Blue Star humans—exerting even a little too much force could easily break their bones. Thus, every time his strength changed, he had to verify his control like this.
“Is it already recess?” Su Yi looked around; the classroom was still chaotic, with everyone discussing the replacement of their teacher, creating a lively atmosphere.
“Come, I’ll take you to recharge.” He wrote on a piece of paper.
Seeing no one paying attention to him, Su Yi seized the opportunity to sneak out the back door with Loli Xi. They circled half the playground and covertly made their way to the school’s electrical room tucked in a corner, where they took a look.
He selected a little-used classroom number, unplugged the wires connected to it, and plugged them into Loli Xi’s interface.
“Stay invisible and quiet. If someone comes, unplug the power and hide. I’ll come for you after school.”
Loli Xi obediently nodded in the electrical room, then comfortably began to stealthily siphon the school’s electricity.
After arranging this, Su Yi felt thirsty. On his way, he stopped by the water dispenser, used his water card to fill a cup with hot water, replenishing the fluids he’d lost, then strolled back toward the classroom.
The campus was noisy, especially his class, where all sorts of speculations bubbled up in the minds of these young students.
“I bet the teacher replacement is definitely related to yesterday’s explosion.”
A boy named He Cheng confidently declared, waving his finger mysteriously. His father worked at the police station, and he had access to all kinds of intelligence on Luo City.
“Why would the explosion mean we need a new teacher? Are the authorities crazy?”
A petite girl named Lu Guoguo sneered dismissively.
“...”
“Maybe all the teachers here are agents, and their mission is to catch that guy who was flying in the sky yesterday!”
He Cheng brought up the topic again. Though classmates had laughed it off as a joke yesterday, his father had sworn that the surveillance footage definitely showed someone flying.
Lu Guoguo shot him a cold look, still unconvinced: “That’s ridiculous. Why would they send agents here for a bunch of students? Do you think there’s a spy or assassin among us?”
“I swear it’s true! Why don’t you believe me? I stake my... my next fifty years of life on it!”
He Cheng bit his lip and shouted. He trusted his father but admitting to betting his lifespan felt ominous.
Passing by with a cup of water, Su Yi’s ears twitched at the words “assassin” and “spy.”
He was a wasteland hunter, unrelated to all this. It couldn’t be about him, so he prepared to return to his seat and read.
However, Lu Guoguo, always eager for mischief, deliberately shouted at He Cheng:
“Su Yi, this guy is betting your lifespan—get him!”
They sat on either side of He Cheng, so the remark could refer to anyone.
It was rare for someone to call him out openly; Su Yi glanced at He Cheng with a magnanimous look and said nothing. He never minded children’s petty quarrels.

Besides, with his current physical condition, living to 200 was no problem at all. Sacrificing 50 years was nothing.
But his indifferent attitude startled He Cheng. He hurriedly tapped Lu Guoguo’s head with a pen to shut her up, then leaned close to Su Yi and whispered an explanation:
“Brother Yi, I didn’t mean it like that, you know I respect you the most...”
His family trembled at the mention of mental illness at the police station; He Cheng did not want Su Yi to take offense.
Hearing this, Su Yi rolled his eyes. That sounded as if He Cheng were some kind of underworld boss from Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui.
Although their order of swordsmen was already numbered over 700,000—meaning, in theory, he had over 700,000 followers—
That was in the wasteland. On Blue Star, Su Yi was just an ordinary high school student with only one follower, who was currently recharging.
Still, to stop further pestering, he said calmly, “It’s nothing.”
“Brother Yi, is it really nothing or not...” He Cheng leaned in, widening one eye and squinting the other, making a mischievous face as if appraising a beauty, whispering for confirmation.
“What if I’m lying to you?”
“Lying?! Brother Yi, have mercy~~”
He Cheng instantly wore a mournful expression.
This made Lu Guoguo, the instigator, smile triumphantly.
Seeing this, Su Yi sighed helplessly and solemnly said, “I’m not lying.”
He waved his hand to signal his annoyance and let the minor incident pass.
However, He Cheng’s question lingered in Su Yi’s mind. The newly arrived teacher, Meng Xi, seemed unusual. The teachers he encountered around school were all strange, their eyes constantly scanning the students as if searching for something.
Many bore scars, some even plainly on their faces—these were no ordinary teachers.
What was the purpose of this massive reshuffle?
Su Yi reflected repeatedly. He felt he had shown no cracks and should not have drawn attention.
He tapped his fingers on the desk, eyes drifting through the window just in time to see Meng Xi stride by, her long legs clad in black stockings, clutching a stack of documents as she headed toward the principal’s office.
Wherever she passed, many students’ gazes followed, whispering and pointing. Many new teachers had arrived, but only one was a beauty.
Today, he had already heard much envy directed her way.
Until he figured things out, Su Yi decided to keep a low profile. Without a full physical exam, no one could detect his condition.
They hadn’t even seen through Loli Xi’s invisibility, and the new teachers didn’t seem very strong...
