Yet Zhao Li had one thing that made everyone else envious: each day, he was required to report to the medical bay to record his daily data. Facing the beautiful military doctor Christine every day—how many tried every trick to achieve this, but the heavens seemed to favor Zhao Li alone, leaving the other lechers in agony.

“How many cycles did you practice last night?”
“Each time nine cycles, twice in total, ma’am!”
“How did you feel during the physical training?”
“Very tired, ma’am!”
“How much exercise did you do today?”
“Fifteen kilometers of sprinting this morning…”

“Could you not call me ‘ma’am’?” The questions and answers were always the same, nothing new. Yet at the end, Christine’s tone always held a hint of playful annoyance.

Meeting the lady doctor every day, a sense of familiarity was growing between them. Each day brought a touch of subtle ambiguity; whether Christine did it deliberately or unconsciously, Zhao Li could never tell.

Regardless, Zhao Li always struggled to control himself, preventing any embarrassment, though every encounter left him tense and nervous. Whenever he was especially nervous, Christine would burst into uninhibited laughter, her body shaking with delight, sometimes even leaning against Zhao Li.

Such moments were the hardest for Zhao Li. Having never been so close to a young woman, he was utterly at Christine’s mercy.

“Ma’am, I—” He had barely begun when Christine interrupted, “I told you, don’t call me ‘ma’am’.”

“Then I…” Zhao Li wanted to ask what he should call her, but the softness leaning against his arm made him so flustered he couldn’t speak.

“Call me Christine!” Her beautiful eyes, like autumn waters, locked with his, and Zhao Li felt as if struck by lightning, his mouth dry.

“Christine, I…” Zhao Li swallowed hard and finally asked, “I only practice the basic health technique. Why not use the foundational inspection method?” To be honest, this had always worried Zhao Li—if his secret were discovered, it could be troublesome.

“Monitoring cultivation progress relies on the sensation of qi in the meridians; it can only be tested during the first and second weeks of learning.” Christine seemed surprised that Zhao Li didn’t know this basic fact and explained it simply.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Li’s heart nearly exploded with joy. So, monitoring was only possible during the first two weeks—the two years of foundational training in his first and second years of high school had all been pretense? It was likely a lie invented to prevent impatience among students.

In other words, now no one could know Zhao Li’s actual cultivation progress unless he told them himself. There were indirect ways, such as judging by certain physical standards, but those were still within Zhao Li’s control.

Overjoyed, Zhao Li failed to notice the peculiar look Christine gave him. He quickly recovered and, to conceal his excitement, asked a sensitive question, “Has my cultivation method caught the attention of the higher-ups?”

“For now, only Instructor Arnold and I are paying attention.” Christine’s expression returned to normal. When it was work-related, she rarely let Zhao Li press her: “But your situation has been reported, so until specific orders arrive, I’ll be responsible for your data records.”

It didn’t seem to be a confidential matter, and even if it were, it couldn’t be kept from those involved: “I suggest you don’t tell your comrades about this, or it could get troublesome later,” Christine warned him.

“I understand.” Zhao Li had been mentally prepared since his first day in the medical bay, so he wasn’t surprised. He never spoke of it to his comrades, only saying his body might have issues that hadn’t shown up in the health check.

“I know you know!” Christine replied cryptically. She was well aware Zhao Li had never mentioned these things, and her attention over the past days hadn’t been without purpose.

“I think the basic health technique advances the generation of true qi rather slowly.” For reasons unknown, Christine said, “If this is your only progress, it might not attract enough attention.”

Zhao Li didn’t understand Christine’s meaning, so he simply listened quietly. Christine’s beautiful form turned behind the display screen, as if pondering or deciding. At last, she made up her mind.

“I’ll help you cultivate appropriately, but you mustn’t tell anyone about this.” Turning back to Zhao Li, Christine wore a stern expression: “This is an order, understand?”

“Yes, ma’am!” Zhao Li had no idea what Christine intended, so he answered mechanically.

“Good. Sit down and assume your cultivation posture.” There wouldn’t be anyone else in the medical bay at this hour, but Christine cautiously closed the door. Then, she reached out and placed her hand on Zhao Li’s neck.

Her smooth, soft hand sent a gentle sensation across Zhao Li’s back. Before he could let his thoughts wander, Christine spoke from behind him, “Begin your practice. When you feel external true qi entering, don’t panic—just continue as normal.”

Zhao Li quietly began his practice. Upon completing the second cycle, a surge of powerful true qi entered through the spot where Christine’s hand touched his back, forcing its way into his meridians.

Christine must have calculated Zhao Li’s cycle timing before transmitting her qi at this moment. At the completion of his second cycle, his own true qi was still in his dantian, but Christine’s qi now occupied the segment of his meridian from the large vertebra at the back up to the crown of his head, continually filling his conception vessel.

This sensation—guarding the dantian while the meridians overflowed with true qi—was entirely new to Zhao Li. Perhaps not only Zhao Li, but few others would ever have such an opportunity.

Compared to Zhao Li, Christine’s true qi was far denser—stronger even than Zhao Li’s compressed qi. He couldn’t tell what level of master she was.

Not daring to be careless, Zhao Li quickly mobilized his own true qi and began the third cycle. Qi flowed from his dantian down through the governor vessel, and upon reaching the large vertebra, both his governor and conception vessels were filled with true qi.
