Longing
Bai Zongnan glanced at the sky and nodded. “Alright.”
Inside the guest room, the bed was tidy and clean.
Meng Yao finished washing up.
Bai Zongnan lay by the window, gazing at the bright moon, and suddenly recalled a line of poetry.
“When will the bright moon appear? I raise my cup to ask the blue heavens. I wonder, in the palace above, what year this night might be.”
Meng Yao turned over, opened her eyes, and looked at Bai Zongnan.
She reached out and hugged Bai Zongnan from behind. “Brother, sing for me.”
Luo Lingzhi’s thoughts instinctively drifted to the apocalyptic era, to the ravaging virus so severe that all greenery vanished, leaving only wood-element abilities to barely foster a handful of rare, precious plants.
“Young master, I just inquired with the steward. He said everything has been arranged.”
As they moved forward, Chen Yang realized he couldn’t hear even a single footstep from Yu Yi touching the ground. An intangible pressure seemed to gather from the air, condensing over his heart.
Witnessing Young Master Zhao’s demeanor, the magistrate could only nod in agreement, though inwardly he had already resolved to lay down his life for His Majesty.
“You’re the one who’s crazy!” The handsome man finally lost his temper. He snapped his fan shut, furrowed his brows, bit his lower lip, and glared at me in anger.
After the entire Bat Family had left, Sen Guang shouldered three ink paintings and approached Butler Alfred.
“You don’t even know money? Buy a brazier, add an iron rack, and a pot of tea. Deliver it to the private room on the second floor. I’ll be discussing some matters with a friend in a moment.” Mu You spoke, then turned to me and nodded lightly.
Old Lady Qiao’s head throbbed at the sight, and fearing she’d meet the same fate as her eldest sister-in-law, she swallowed her anger and kept silent, her eyes wishing they could bore two bloody holes into Luo Lingzhi.
Halfway through their conversation, those few people looked up, caught sight of Song Wan, and immediately shut their mouths, lowered their heads, and hurried away.
Many people aren’t lucky enough to encounter love at the very beginning. Even after entering marriage, they simply muddle through. Even if it begins with passion, once married, time will wear down that fire. What, then, sustains a marriage?
It’s over—this was everyone’s thought. The moment the oppressive force lifted, many of the still-conscious disciples covered their faces and wept, collapsing to the ground, gazing up at the sky.
Mo Li considered for a moment. Being a nominal member was fine, after all, he might return to Yanjing City someday. What if he needed it? He couldn’t trouble Elder Wang to process his credentials every time, could he?
“You’ve brought me here, and now you want to leave? Isn’t it a bit late for that?” Emperor Tai’a’s gaze was cold and stern as he fixed his eyes on the two, questioning them chillingly.
As Gu Shaoqi spoke, he glanced at Bing Hezi and was startled to see that Bing Hezi’s eyes were wide with shock and disbelief, staring at the screen as if a monk had met the Buddha, or a Christian had encountered Jesus.
Though Wang Yan didn’t want to admit it, regret had already taken root in her heart, growing heavier and heavier, pressing on her chest until she nearly collapsed.
Cheng Yi swallowed hard. Was this guy a devil? He could torment people without even changing his expression—truly a ruthless character.
But just as Luo Li was about to strike Chen Mu, her expression froze, then morphed into one of utter disbelief.
Not long after, the figure in the black robe halted, arriving at a stretch of flat ground. Without the shelter of trees, everywhere now seemed level, but this place—Chen Changeng had already visited once, yet had found nothing out of the ordinary.
“The Apostles’ Society exists to overthrow the current social order. Our goal is to shatter these chains and build a society better suited to demon hunters,” Yang Yifan declared with fanaticism.
Only now did Yang Xue realize that, having rushed from Guangnan, she’d forgotten to buy any gifts. Bai Xiongqi might not mind, but after so long away, coming to see Bai Yingying and her newborn, arriving empty-handed was rather inappropriate.
