So, almost theatrically, she died, came back to life, and gained a talent that allowed her to ‘revive infinitely.’

But that wasn’t even the most remarkable part. The most astonishing thing was that her physical abilities had improved after resurrection!

She discovered this by accident after she clicked on her identity card. Her physical strength, originally at 10, was now at 20. Her agility, once 5, had doubled to 10!

Although it still seemed weak, the fact that she could grow was enough to make her heart race with excitement!

Could she dare to imagine that, once her physical strength reached the maximum level, she would be able to walk fearlessly through this place?

But to achieve that, she first needed to find Resurrection Cards.

Otherwise, without them, another death would be truly final.

The glowing point would guide her to the nearest Resurrection Card, so she moved quickly.

Unexpectedly, the first nearby location turned out to be the bathroom where Zhou Bin had died.

Su Man hesitated.

She had died there once already; venturing in alone, she might run into Hu Meili again.

Remembering Hu Meili’s swift attack, she shook her head. No, even if she was prepared now, she would still get caught off guard if she went in alone.

After weighing the pros and cons, she decided to skip that spot for now. She’d need a scapegoat to go in with her.

A sudden flash of lightning split the sky outside, followed by the sound of a car pulling up.

She hurried downstairs and saw Hu Kan and the others stumbling out of an off-road vehicle.

The car was covered in mud, and there were dents in the roof, as if something had struck it.

“What happened? What’s going on? Weren’t you all supposed to have left?” Su Man asked, feigning ignorance but genuinely curious about what had brought them back.

“Ugh, don’t mention it. We’ve had the worst luck imaginable!” Hu Kan’s face was ashen, the very picture of misfortune, his brow furrowed so deeply it could hold a mountain.

“When we got halfway down the mountain, the rain suddenly got so heavy we couldn’t even see the road. The terrain is treacherous here, so we decided to wait out the rain. But just as we stopped, a rock slid down from the mountainside and smashed into the roof!”

As he spoke, Hu Kan still had a lingering fear. “If we hadn’t been lucky—if the rock had been bigger, or fallen from higher up—we’d all have been flattened.”

“But even so, our luck was terrible. When we tried to come back here to take shelter, we were nearly trapped by a small landslide.”

That minor landslide had wasted their time; otherwise, they would have returned half an hour earlier.

“I see,” Su Man replied, saying little. But when she turned and saw Hu Meili being carried out of the car, she was slightly surprised. “What happened to her?”

“I don’t know. She started rambling nonsense as soon as we got in the car, made a fuss the entire way, and by the time we got back, she was burning up with fever.”

Hu Kan’s tone was sour. Just looking at Hu Meili in her current state was enough to irritate him.

Things were already going badly, and now she was adding to their troubles.

Su Man noted Hu Meili’s pallor and half-conscious state and guessed she must have been terrified out of her mind.

“Forget about her. This rain is coming down heavier and heavier—damn it, looks like we’re not getting off the mountain tonight.”

Hu Kan’s clothes were soaked and clung to his body, and the chilly wind made him shiver uncontrollably.

He pulled Su Man a step forward and, glancing back at the group helping Hu Meili, lowered his voice to ask, “Nothing happened while you were here, right?”

He meant, “Zhou Bin...?”

“No, everything was normal,” Su Man lied. Then, with a hidden implication, she asked, “Did anything else happen to you all?”

Hu Kan shook his head. “No, just asking. After all, you were alone in a house with a dead man.”

Su Man didn’t expose his lie.

As she glanced at the group by the car, a flash of lightning illuminated them, and she noticed something odd. Casually, she asked, “Did you bring anyone else back with you?”

Hu Kan’s hair stood on end, and he tried to sound stern, but his voice trembled. “Don’t scare me. There’s no one else.”

Su Man gestured toward the people unloading luggage by the car. “There are six of them.”

“That’s impossible!” Hu Kan nearly cried out.

There had originally been eight of them. With Zhou Bin dead, there should be seven left. Now, with him and Su Man both standing here, there ought to be only five by the car.

He forced himself to look over, counting under his breath, “One, two... five...”

His gaze shifted, his voice shaking. “Six!”

He swallowed hard, eyes wide with terror as he exchanged a look with Su Man. There really were six people.

But damn it, he knew he hadn’t brought anyone extra back.

A chill ran down his spine, his legs nearly buckling. The people were right there in front of him, not far away, but his head spun and he couldn’t make out their faces. No matter how he looked, he couldn’t tell who the extra person was.

Su Man, calm as ever, reminded him, “Call out their names and have them come inside one by one.”

She hadn’t really memorized the names of the men whose names she didn’t know, so she couldn’t be certain who didn’t belong.

“I’ve heard that some evil spirits can’t enter a house uninvited. If this really is the case, we just don’t invite it in,” Su Man whispered, sharing an old rumor she’d once heard.

But she kept the rest to herself: if it wasn’t that kind of spirit, then they might not make it out of this alive.

Still, it was a risk that had to be taken. The unknown was always the most terrifying, and Su Man didn’t like living in fear of it.

Besides, they had to spend the night here, so there was no way she’d let whatever that extra thing was slip into the house with them.

Hu Kan was now so rattled that he took Su Man’s words as gospel, unable to think for himself. Voice trembling, he called out, “Aya, come inside.”

Aya, confused, walked over.

Without another word, Hu Kan just pushed her inside. “Don’t come out.”

He used the same method to call in the rest, one by one.

Hu Meili was carried in by others, and soon everyone was gathered, bewildered, at the door.

Only then did they notice that Su Man and Hu Kan were still staring toward the off-road vehicle.

“Hey? Isn’t there still someone over there?”

A lone, shadowy figure stood by the car. Finally, someone saw it and let out a quiet exclamation.
