Make the Most of Youth, for One Cannot Remain Young Forever Chapter 108: The Transaction at the Pavilion of Good Karma
Inside the Hall of a Hundred Herbs, Bai Qingzhou and Fan Tianhe sat facing each other.
Fan Tianhe looked deeply worried. "Senior Brother, is this really going to be alright?"
"It is fine, there is no need to worry! I will prepare thoroughly over this month to ensure nothing goes wrong," Bai Qingzhou replied earnestly. Though he was confident, he was by no means arrogant; he would still prepare as diligently as required.
"Should we inform Deacon Chen then? After all, Deacon Chen is in charge of the shop's affairs," Fan Tianhe asked anxiously.
Bai Qingzhou chuckled softly and smiled. "Deacon Chen is no longer managing the shop. I am the one in charge now. So you need not worry. I have the final say in this matter."
"Alright then..."
The next day.
After instructing Fan Tianhe to purchase the various materials needed to open the butcher shop, Bai Qingzhou headed toward the magical artifact shops in the market town.
Shanyuan Pavilion, the largest magical artifact shop in Shuiying Market, did not just sell all kinds of artifacts; it also offered services such as reclamation, repair, inspection, grading, and valuation, making it exceptionally versatile. A black-and-white flag fluttered at the entrance, indicating that the shop was under the jurisdiction of the Wuji Sect.
Bai Qingzhou glanced at the signboard at the entrance before stepping inside.
"Fellow Daoist! How may I help you?" a young girl at the door immediately stepped forward to greet him warmly.
"I am here to have an artifact repaired," Bai Qingzhou replied simply.
"Oh..." Hearing his words, the girl's enthusiasm instantly waned. She turned around quietly to lead the way. "Please follow me, Fellow Daoist."
The profit margin for repairing artifacts was not high, which meant the commission for the reception staff was also low, so her cooling attitude was understandable. Bai Qingzhou noticed the shift in her demeanor, but he did not mind it at all, calmly following behind her.
The two entered a small room. Two meditation cushions were placed on either side of a dark wooden long table in the center. A light, refreshing fragrance drifted through the air. The overall decor was instantly pleasing to the eye—it was an elegant private room.
"Please wait here, Fellow Daoist. I will notify our shop's artifact refiner to come over," the girl said before stepping out.
As soon as the door closed, Bai Qingzhou saw a flash of colored light at the doorway, and a ripple of energy vibrated from the entrance throughout the entire room.
Bai Qingzhou narrowed his eyes slightly. This room actually had a restrictive formation array, seemingly designed to block external spiritual senses. This novelty intrigued Bai Qingzhou, and he began to observe it quietly.
A moment later, the girl returned, leading an elderly man in his sixties.
The old man sat down on one of the meditation cushions, and the girl withdrew from the room.
"I hear you wish to repair an artifact, Fellow Daoist?" the old man said calmly, his face as placid as a deep well.
"Yes," Bai Qingzhou replied. With a thought, a protective undershirt appeared in his hand. He handed it to the old man. "Please take a look and see if this armor can be repaired."
Seeing that Bai Qingzhou possessed a storage bag, the old man's expression remained unchanged. He reached out to take the undershirt and began to examine it closely.
Within the time it took for a stick of incense to burn, the old man set the undershirt down and said slowly, "Brass Inner Armor, mid-grade Yellow rank. It is over fifty percent damaged. Repairing it will require sub-bull hide, yellow jute fabric, white cashmere, and green-horn vine. The repair fee will be ten low-grade spirit stones."
Hearing this, Bai Qingzhou nodded silently. He immediately felt that the old man was highly professional, especially since he had never even heard of those materials before.
However, the price of ten spirit stones still stung a little. After all, the Brass Inner Armor had only cost thirty-five spirit stones when he won it at the auction, and now repairing it would cost nearly a third of that price. But this defensive armor had saved his life several times already, and its quality was exceptional. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Alright, no problem."
The old man nodded and said, "You may return to collect it in three days, Fellow Daoist." With that, he prepared to stand up and leave.
"Sir, please wait a moment," Bai Qingzhou called out to stop him.
"Is there something else?" The old man sat back down.
With a thought, Bai Qingzhou immediately retrieved several magical artifacts from his storage bag. Among them were four offensive weapons—a broadsword, a spear, a giant hammer, and a sharp axe—as well as two pieces of clothing-style defensive armor, making six artifacts in total.
In an instant, the artifacts covered the long table, radiating light and rich spiritual energy.
At this, the old man's calm expression finally broke. He leaned forward hurriedly. "Are you planning to sell all of these, Fellow Daoist?"
Bai Qingzhou smiled slightly. "Indeed. Please evaluate them and give me a price, sir."
"Very well, very well..." The old man beamed with delight and began to examine them meticulously.
These artifacts were items allocated to Bai Qingzhou personally after the great battle of Mount Longhu. Since he had no use for them, he figured it was better to sell them all.
This time, it took the old man half an hour to complete the inspection.
Exhaling softly, the old man said slowly, "If I am not mistaken, these items were looted by you during the battle of Mount Longhu, young friend?"
"Indeed!" Bai Qingzhou did not hide it. He then asked, "How did you tell, sir?"
"These artifacts were forged using various techniques, some of which are unique to the refinement methods of Mount Longhu. Yet, they also contain materials exclusive to our Wuji Alliance. Given the timing, only spoils of war from that great battle could possess both of these characteristics."
"You are indeed knowledgeable and experienced, sir! This junior is full of admiration. However... I wonder how much your shop is offering for these artifacts?"
"Among the six artifacts, there are two low-grade Yellow rank, three mid-grade Yellow rank, and one high-grade Yellow rank. The price should be around two hundred and fifty low-grade spirit stones..."
"Uh..." Bai Qingzhou's expression soured slightly upon hearing this. This was quite a bit lower than the price he had anticipated.
"However..." The old man shifted his tone. "I see that you appear to be a sect disciple, and you must be one of the heroes who fought for our Wuji Alliance! I will not hide it from you..." The old man paused in thought before continuing, "For all of these artifacts combined, our shop is willing to offer three hundred spirit stones! What do you think?"
This was directly fifty spirit stones more than the previous estimate.
"Deal! Thank you, sir. Three hundred spirit stones it is!" This price was close to what Bai Qingzhou had in mind, so he agreed immediately.
Before long, the young receptionist from earlier brought a large pile of spirit stones to Bai Qingzhou.
Bai Qingzhou took them, counted them carefully, and, after confirming the amount was correct, swept all the spirit stones into his storage bag with great satisfaction.
"Then I shall thank you, Fellow Daoist. I will return in three days to collect the Brass Inner Armor!" Bai Qingzhou cupped his hands in farewell.
"Very well," the old man smiled, stroking his beard.
Bai Qingzhou turned, stepped out of the room, and walked toward the exit.
"This way, please, Fellow Daoist."
The girl leading the way now had a face full of smiles. She had originally thought this was just a minor repair job, but she had not expected it to turn into a transaction worth three hundred spirit stones. This would significantly increase her commission; the pleasant surprise had come all too suddenly.
"Fellow Daoist, would you like to take a look at the other artifacts we have here?" the girl suddenly suggested.
Hearing this, Bai Qingzhou thought for a moment and replied, "Sure! Lead the way!"
With a newly thickened purse, Bai Qingzhou was exceptionally generous with his spending.
Half an hour later, when Bai Qingzhou walked out of Shanyuan Pavilion, a walnut-style beaded bracelet was already wrapped around his wrist.
